The reason why not many liked it is because Bon Jovi just can't seem to release a proper DVD of a show. Every one of their live releases has been incomplete. And it also need to be mixed to death, chopped into pieces, the song order needs to be changed and as a result their official live releases never look and sound like a live DVD. The audio of the Crush tour is weird as all audience noise is mixed to the back yet Jon's all the way to the front with a total lack of reverb. It all sounds completely flat.

Although not all shows at Madison Square Garden were particularly great it's not hard to understand why people don't like the video for Dry County when, during the guitar solo, you get shots of a woman holding her baby (or whatever it was). Remix that stuff and put it in an order that actually flows, let the show breathe and you get a whole different animal. It's not that hard, and somehow for Bon Jovi it is.

All fans have wanted are good live releases. This band has done 10 world tours in the last 20 years and there's not a single live album out there representing the band for what they are. The bootlegs recorded by people of this board sound better than their official releases. Yet whenever Obie's confronted with critisism he waves it away and says people are too picky over omitted covers, faded intro's/outro's and chopped up guitar solo's. He's seen close to every Bon Jovi show in the last 20 years and still hasn't got a clue of what a show sounds like to a fan.

sad but true... Bj were a great live band for a very long time and they dont have the releases to back it up...london 95 is great imo, we should get sth from nj and ktf at some point...its been way too long...
sometimes jons makes me wonder with his choices.

I'm pretty sure that Jon basically doesn't release this due to the current state of the band and, moreover, himself. Contrast to what some delusional fans think and to what he says in interviews "I'm feeling great vocally", he knows how bad he sounds. Just think back to Mohegan Sun 2011 when he failed to hit the "this is my hometown" in Wild In The Streets and then shook his head in disgust aboout himself. He knows very well that if he released old material and casual fans would pick it up, the backfire would be horrendous. Let's face, we know how the current state is, but a casual just might pick up that release, think "that's good, I'll check them out live" and then be absolutely shocked about it. He won't risk that since the casuals are by far still the main part of a concert audience.
I pretty much think that his "no nostalgia/not living in the past" attitude is primarily in order to turn these discussions down from the get-go. The only chance we'll have of getting these kind of things is when the band is retired for good.

I can imagine the audio options for this DVD

. 5.1
. 7.1
. No Jon ✔️

It'd be a nice feature though. Include the option to take out Phil X and have the lead singer from Bounce and several other youTube Richie's take over. Speed up most songs, pitch them to the right key and we've all got a Bon Jovi band that's listenable. And it'll sound just as "live" as the official "live" recordings.

The radio stream of Hyde Park 2011 sounds better than anything Obie has ever mixed. This alone says a lot about how clueless he is when it comes to mixing.

Yep. Milton Keynes 1989 and 1993 are also far superior to any official release.

Take a look at Madonna's performance at the Eurovision. Clearly with some technique, you can save about anything. She sounded so off but on her own channel the performance sounds spot on. Sure it's cheating but I am sure Jon wouldn't mind doing a bit of that.

Why would Bon Jovi record a DVD of a show no one would want to buy nor watch? There's a reason they've stopped doing TV promo's and have stopped selling official bootlegs of the shows. Official recordings make it painfully obvious how terrible Jon's voice is nowadays and how unbalanced this new band is. No overdubs will save him and an official DVD would only make it more obvious this band has run its course.
