Looking for 1996 speech
 
I'm looking for a very specific and very epic speech Jon did, can anyone help? I can remember one of the following;

- It was definitely in 1996 before the long hiatus, probably towards the end of the TD tour
- Before Jon started the speech and he said something like "When you're a kid you have that dream to chase the setting sun around the world" "Thanks for your support these past 20 years".
- He definitely says: "We'll be back" and the crowd screams.
- I think it might be in an encore before he sings something to believe in, letting you go or these days.

Any ideas? I'd love to find it again, remember is being heart-wrenching!

He made a speech like that at Maine Road Manchester 1996 (Circus Stage) wouldn't of been there would it? I remember him saying they weee going away for a long break but would be back etc etc

One of my favourite speeches as well, I know it word for word by now :)

"When I was a little kid I sat in front of thje TV and I was thinking about, now it's time to say goodbye, I don't know why but, I guess I was trying to lighten up the idea that it was finally time for us to pack it in. And I knew we were gonna be headin off on a long journey for about two or three years. And Umm.. just want you to know that the journey up to now, the first thirteen years has been pretty amazing, and that's because you guys made it amazing for us. It's one of those things that if you don't laugh you cry so, so you gotta try to lighten it up, but...see a lot of guys come out here and it's like joining the circus...you run away from home for awhile , you go out and you chase the setting sun around the world and back again and then they pack it up and they move it on to the next city. And we...we come out here and we believe every night up here on the stage, and it's cause we are all chasing that circus dream. And so uh..I guess all I can do is wish that you have as much fun on your journey and your circus dreams as we've had, and uh, just know that you know what? We're gonna be back so we'll see ya in a few.

Yes thanks! Excellent, amazing speech. Still makes me numb just reading it written down.

Otherwise everything is word-for-word perfect, but it's not "we believe every night up here on the stage", it's "we bleed..." :) btw, that TD performance is just amazing - probably one of my favorite renditions done by the band of any song!

I used to hear that too and always thought it was a bit too far fetched. However, even when listening closely with headphones, it's basically impossible to decide for sure. If you're trying to hear "bleed", you can hear that and if you try to hear "believe", you can also hear that.
Kind of like with HAND when one of my classmates back in the day talked about the new Jovi song "Heaven I Stay" :mrgreen:
When you wanna hear that, you can hear it everytime instead of "Have A Nice Day".
