I dunno about saving the shows etc but he could certainly save some of the classic hits! The other night Wanted wasnt played and I can 100% say I couldn't care less! it's the one song that stands out more than any other without Sambora. I cringe everytime I hear Phil doing the backing vocals and I'll never get used to it live, without Richie.

This.......... Miss his harmony with Jon in everything and his taking a lead to give Jon a much needed imo break - but Wanted is where I miss him the most.

Don’t agree, buut ... to each their own !

Aloha !

I'm not quite sure what needs saving to be honest. Most people on here were trashing the band a year ago, bought tickets anyway, kept trashing the band for its abysmal performances, went to the show, came back and posted reviews saying "it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be" or other excuses (moved around a lot) which can be then contradicted by youTube videos showing the exact opposite. Meanwhile, the band still play in front of a lot of people who clearly don't care for the loss of Richie and the part of Jon that's still there.

So save what, exactly?

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

It's just not the same without Richie for us, the diehards. The casual fans who go to see them live are there for Jon, especially the famous soccer moms. I think it's a case of nostalgia for most here, they want to see Jon and Richie side by side again, to feed the nostalgia, since they're been fans for longer than me, and some have grown up and become fans seeing Jon and Richie together.

Save the live show? Aren't the stadiums and arenas pretty packed? Check the reviews from the 13th, show was AWESOME, everybody that went from the board had a GREAT TIME. Things are perfect in Joviland.

I, for one, don't go to the shows anymore. They are trash now and the only thing that can save it is this: A farewell tour revisiting old unknown songs, meaning a tour only for the fans. Richie coming back and a miracle inside Jon's throat.

I agree with your reasoning and the valid points about reactions to songs fans don't know/like. But again, Jon and Richie knew all that before anything was ever said about them doing solo stuff and before 3 of the songs were added to one of the special editions of WAN, which isn't SOP, either. So I still don't get why crowd reactions would've played any role in Jon changing his mind. I don't disagree that it might have; I just don't get why it would.

My brain is foggy sometimes, do we have some interview with Jon saying Richie was going to sing his new songs on the tour? I know there was the one that Richie gave. It feels like we're treating this like they had an agreement where they'd tour earlier than expected in exchange for him promoting his album on tour and I don't know where it's coming from.

The idea that Jon may have agreed to let Richie promote Aftermath because he was coerced into touring sooner than expected probably came from me since, afaik, no one else has mentioned it. And I'm not saying that's what happened. It's just a thought that occurred to me as I worked through the limited information we were given, looking for something significant enough to cause Richie to walk out in the middle of a tour. Nothing but pure speculation based on a gazillion little things that don't add up for me. They don't need to be rehashed here because most of them have been discussed already; and it would just stir up another J vs R discussion. If you're interested in the connections and why I think it might be significant, PM me; and I'll be happy to explain. Otherwise, just consider it another wild hair; and carry on. :)
Whether it had anything to do with Jon's ultimatum and the timing of the tour is beside the point, anyway. Point being that there obviously was an understanding that Richie would be doing songs from Aftermath; and yes, there were interviews from both of them.

I couldn't put my hands on the video interview where I first saw Jon talking about it; but here's a print one from November, 2012:

Bon Jovi is impressed with his bandmates' work away from Bon Jovi: David Bryan's musical "Memphis" won four Tony Awards; Tico Torres has been showing his paintings in galleries; and Richie Sambora is touring behind his solo album. They'll reunite early next year to learn about 75 songs for the tour, including the "Stand Up Guys" songs.

"Theres always going to be some time where I'm going to want to strum an acoustic just like Richie will do something from his solo album," he says. "We'll definitely play them."

This one is from the interview Richie did in September 2012 about Dangerbird:

Quote:

...[Sambora] adds that bandleader Jon Bon Jovi is extremely supportive of the project.

“I’m going to go play these songs live when the band goes out on tour [in the spring]," Sambora says. "Jon’s going to let me play a couple of songs, so I am going to continue promoting this record even when I’m out on the road with the band."

Oh, and btw, I just realized that statement from Richie was made before the cancelled NA shows. That could indicate that his promotion of Aftermath was indeed cut short because he was called back in sooner than expected; which might also be an answer to your question about why make up shows were never scheduled. There was plenty of time after he left the tour, obviously; but given the negative reactions to Calgary, I doubt he would have seen much point in it. (Threw that in for free.) ;)

To promote our site (bonjovi90 and me) a little bit before nobody's interested in Bon Jovi at all anymore :D

He sang it once: https://bjtours.jimdo.com/let-s-go-o...ary-statistic/

Thanks! I was trying to figure out what Jon had said. Though he never flat out said Aftermath , he could have been talking about his other ones. There's a part of me that thinks for sure his promo got cut short and was told he could promote it on the tour and then maybe Jon changed his mind?

I agree about not rescheduling the dates after bailing on the tour but I also think years have passed and if it wasn't about low sales being the reason for cancelling I think he would have. He doesn't necessarily need to promote a product but a mini tour could have been put together by this point.
