In the same way he needed someone like Richie to stand up to him musically, and challenge his ideas, I think he is missing that now on the business side of things too. That's what happens when you surround yourself with people that just tell you that everything you say or do is great!

I'm wondering if he even knows *or cares* how badly his golden experience is received!

I just can't see Jon being the kind of person that doesn't want to know exactly what is going on with everything he is connected with. But maybe you're right. Maybe he's just letting Matt run with it. There's a huge error in judgement alone...

Maybe some have been conned by Jon protesting over the last 15 years that he is a singer/songwriter alongside the legends. The kinds of artists who do not do cruise ships, sends oven gloves to fans, deliver lazy products because the market is there.

I do not think it is caring about the fan. Who knows whether someone like Springsteen truly cares about the fan. What he does care about is his image as an artist.

Jon came from an era where selling the band as a product was OK, and he was also balls deep into the genre that embraced that idea more than most. Bon Jovi is a commerical entity as much as it is a band, and it has always been that way. That question is why Jon was once so smart about the business of Bon Jovi and is now seemingly making awful decisions.

I think generally Jon does want to know exactly what's going on with everything he's connected with and call the final shots or at least have a say in everything, but I think in the case of the Experience as well as the Runaway trips he's just letting Matt do his thing because he trusts him, but his judgement is sh*t because it's his brother.

It's totally Matt's job but since he's hanging with Jerry and the housewives, the fans are getting what they're getting  and the fact Jon LETS Matt do it as he pleases is a clear sign he doesn't care much about that whole thing as long as the money is flowing. Maybe when the cruises stop being sold out and the experience tanks, things will go in a different direction.

Jon hasn't retired yet but he's already acting as if he was busy with anything except for being a 'rock star'. I'm wondering if he's done with political songs/topical albums, too.

I think there is zero difference in how Jon is now versus how he was in the 90's as a person. The difference is the bandcamp and third party vendors setting all this stuff up. It's being done cheaply to the lowest common denominator of fans. It's not like Jon was ever in the mail room sending this stuff out and coming up with cool ideas. He did the music, the management made sure it looked good. You lose the label, you lose funding, you go for the easy sale. JMO.

It doesn't take a smart team to come up with ideas that are better than what the Experience has been. They promised some of the stuff in the announcement, too.

Pretty much this. The rhetoric that the Experience isn't doing well because we're dissatisfied is a bit tired at this point because we don't know their numbers and know how easy the fanbase that buys multiple tickets per tour is to please.

But we'll probably never know how good/bad it's doing because they'll never admit it's flopping either way. But we can all agree it was very poorly run and uneven with what its offering.

If you knew nothing about The Experience up to this point and then watched Jon's promo video about it and then fast forwarded to today where the Dave Bergman videos are currently the backbone to this project, I think you'd actually lose some of your IQ because you'd be that confused.

With only a couple of months left to this disaster, it literally morphed into nothing. I haven't even logged into this piece of garbage in months. Whenever the last LA video posted was the last time.

I guarantee they continue it too because there is zero overhead and a ton of idiots out there who will still join at the full price.

If it does continue, I say we do a large group membership. Everyone throws in 5 bucks just to get access to a few live performances. **** them. They totally screwed us so we should all get the next year free anyway.

The fans they want/have eat that stuff up and for the demographic they are after, $200 a year is absolutely nothing to them. Why wouldn't they continue? It's an easy way to make a bunch of money.
