This is 08 and THINFS came out in 2016...Amazing how Jon has gone from looking well to so old in 8 years. It's not all from just grey hair but I think Richie leaving aged him 25 years. His vocals are starting to sound a bit thin here. Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk |
I remember people complaining about Jon sounding quite bad in Prayer there (for its time) and the encore choice was dreadful, but the first half was nice.
And Richie's voice crack in Wanted with Jon's look over was great [emoji23] Gesendet von meinem X30 mit Tapatalk |

Saying I'm expecting too much is odd considering out of all shows you've seen chances are at least 15 songs have been there every night. Then there's the new stuff so on top of that you've heard about 2 or 3 different songs. And you're saying I'm expecting too much? Your expectations are just way too low and you're clearly not aware of how other bands deal with setlists. Quote:
Since 2001 I've seen a little over 30 Bon Jovi shows. Out of those 30 shows 17 songs were there every single night. Considering how Bon Jovi have played an average of 24 songs per night the change is little considering how of those other 7 songs at least 4 were new ones. People saying Bon Jovi mix it up are delusional. I saw Aerosmith play 6 times this past decade, all on a different tour spread out over 3 continents. And although they play roughly the same set every night 1/3 of the set was stuff they hadn't played last time I saw them play. I've bought tickets for 2 different Aerosmith shows in 2 different countries and I know I'll get to hear a lot of stuff I haven't heard before. Meanwhile, if you buy a ticket for a Bon Jovi show you're lucky if you'll get 1 or 2 different songs spread out over 2 different countries. Sure, the order gets mixed up a bit but the differences between shows are really not that big as both some fans and the band say they are. Imagine a Bon Jovi show of which 1/3 is completely new to you as you didn't hear it last time you saw the band. It'd mean the following for their last setlist: This House Is Not for Sale Something not played last tour Something not played last tour You Give Love a Bad Name Something not played last tour Something not played last tour In These Arms Something not played last tour Keep the Faith Something not played last tour It's My Life Something not played last tour We Don't Run Wanted Dead or Alive Bad Medicine Encore: I'll Be There for You Livin' on a Prayer I've kept all the new stuff in there, kept all the big hits in there but everything else has been taken out and could be replaced by something else. This is what your average band does per tour. Quote:

My expectations aren't low at all, I'm just not selfish enough to expect because I'm there and I've heard Captain Crash 76 times, Jon may play Stick to Your Guns instead. Get off your pedestal you muppet. Sent from my ELE-L09 using Tapatalk |

Yes, bands keep the same set throughout the same tour. But the next tour half their set has changed. With Bon Jovi this just isn't the case as, minus the new songs, everything else but just 2 songs is completely similar. Even with Hyde Park, the differences between 2011 and 2013 were just 7 songs: Raise Your Hands I Love This Town Blaze of Glory Lay Your Hands on Me I'll Be There for You Hey God Love's The Only Rule That's considered mixing it up to you? Out of that list there's 1 song you'd just not expect at a Bon Jovi. This variety you're speaking of isn't there. So unless you can show me a band who changes about as much per tour as Bon Jovi does with A "simple internet search" you're just flat out wrong. How many bands play 1 completely new song per tour to their audience? Your simple internet search ought to show you that right away as both me and semigoodlooking have tried to explain to you. I've no idea why this is so hard to understand. Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |

But it's like in 1996 where the TV broadcast gets hyped while it actually was the band's off night and the other nights were much better. Watching back that Tokyo gig, it may appear good by today's standards, but the It's My Life performance can put one to sleep. Their Rock in Rio broadcasts in 2008 and 2010 were much more exciting in my opinion. Gesendet von meinem X30 mit Tapatalk |

But yes, IBTF for example was as dull as it has been for the last few years, and I admit there were times when Jon looked like he's on auto pilot, only to look like he's really in it a few moments later. Really strange when you think about it. You're right though that the show shines compared to recent years, and probably because the sound and mix and the overall quality is superb. |
