Bowling for Columbine

:D

I've just come back from the cinema. The movie was really good actually, i wasn't sure what to expect but it's very true...if a little extreme at times. Anyone else seen it? What do you think about it? I would especially like to hear opinions from US Americans and Canadians about it :)

it's a documentary about guns and shooting in the USA. how easy it is to get them and about littleton and other incidents. it was made by an american who was very sarcastic at times about his country. he travelled to different states, different institutions, different people and researched the question why america had the highest murder rate even though canada for example has many more weapons per household but only about 150 murders (with guns) as opposed to the usa where there are more than 11,000 murders of this kind per year! it was really good.

In Fort Gibson, Oklahoma on December 7, 1999 a 13-year-old boy shot four classmates at school with his father's handgun. His father had purchased the gun six years earlier at Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart had stopped stocking handguns in its stores in 1993, but not before the boy's father had purchased the gun that would bring tragedy six years later.

god... that's like the equivalent of me walking into Asda (literally since they are owned by walmart now) or sainsbury's here and buying a gun...

messed up...

choclady 02-20-2003 01:11 AM

yeah...i knew it was bad but i didn't know it was that extreme before i saw the movie. if you get the chance you should really watch it!

there was mention of a six year old boy in michigan who shot a class mate with his uncle's gun

it's frightening

I've also seen it !!!
And it's a great movie/documentary!!!
It's really shocking ....... for example the beginning of the movie, when Moore visits this bank and gets a gun just as a present for opening a new account  . Or this guy who sleeps with a loaded gun under his pillow.......  .

PS: I liked the canadien people in the movie......they've been cool!

Mike Moore..my favorite person.

I think its a great film, really informative and shocking. But I think he went overboard with the whole Charlton Heston thing, leaving the picture of the girl outside the house 'n' all. What do you guys think??

Mongoose 04-30-2003 11:20 PM

Michael Moore is great, once I saw him getting all these black men to give in their wallets, and went and dumped them by a police station so that the Police wouldnt shoot them (the black people)

+ charlton Heston = scum of the earth
