Jon and Dorothea

hi!

how long have they been seperated in the 80's because of this diane lane thing??? what were the reasons for the split and what did jon do to get dorothea back??? does anybody know?

Well, if you believe Behind the Music Dot left Jon because she didn't like that he "ran away and joined the circus" meaning the rock and roll life. Jon during that period dated Diane Lane for a brief time (I think months, not years) but showed up at Dot's mom's house one day wanting to get back together and as Jon said "she fell for it". That was about 1985 I think. They got married in 1989 as we all know. A lot of songs on 7800 refer to the Jon and Dot breakup. So anyway, that is the Bon Jovi legend version as told by VH1's Behind the Music.

Jon and Dorothea were separated for only 8 or 9 months total. It wasn't because of Diane Lane. Diane was Jon's rebound relationship and she knows that. She's commented in interviews that he was still in love with someone else and even though they tried, it never would have worked out. Diane also said she wound up embarrassing Jon a lot because she was trying to play the part of what she thought a rock star's girlfriend should be and he didn't want that--he wanted someone real. She said she made an idiot of herself drinking too much and even baked cookies for the band when they did Farm Aid in '85. She said there was entirely too much miscommunication, but they didn't split harshly.

I am glad somebody asked this question because I was always curious about it myself.

You know this same topic was erased from the BJ.com messageboards. The oompas were bent because it delt with Jon's personal life.

How bad is that?

very... considering... i always seem to hear in the BJ.com newsletters that Jon discusses his music, acting, being a father in various magasines they are telling us to go out and read...

or that he is People magasines sexiest man of the year - read all inside...

etc - they spend half their times discussing his looks etc...

Sometimes it's really about Jon's looks and fan fiction - but why not dream a little bit?
Okay, there are some peeps who would die for the band - but I'm certainly not someone who says "amen" to everything the band does.
And there are great people, they helped me when I felt like suicide and had big problems.
And some post are deleted, that's a fact. But we also had some discussions saying that Bon Jovi did crap etc. that weren't deleted. If anyone here knows "Hardy" (Hardline) - he and many others are not a blind follower.
Just had to write that, don't feel offended...

I agree with you Flocke. I think the posters are very nice. It's the mod's over there that I think need to calm down a bit. :D Somebody asked that question like 3 times, and each time it got deleted. I just think they are a bit overprotective...dumb oompas!
