Stephen King??? or Dean Koontz? (anyone heard of him?)
??????
|
Yes - Stephen King = Very good, if not a bit loose with his writing. I prefer James Herbert.
Dean Kootz - Have only read one of his books, but was VERY impressed - was hooked from start to finish. Can't remember what its called, but the one where the main character has a condition that he can't come out in the day & there is an experiment at Fort Wyvern that has gone wron & there r a load of labatory mokeys running around. My description doesn't do it justice. Very suspenseful & good book. I keep meaning to read the sequel. Mike |
Um, I haven't read the Koontz novel that you're talking about but I have a feeling that its "False Memory"??? Ring any bells?
James Herbert is Very good, I like him, though I've only read the one book and that was in fits and starts - I do plan on sttling into a more organised approach to "The Rats" which sitting idly on my shelf waiting to be read. |
Dean koontz blows stephen king out of the water. King is nothing to koontz. Sole survivor is they best ever book.
Anyone ever heard of him, huh, what planet do u come from?. |
No it wasn't that one - quite a recent one. I recommend it. I'll dig up the name tommorrow.
The Rats was Herberts 2nd (or 1st book - can't remember if the fog came 1st). Is a very good action chiller horrer, very graphic. I recommend some of his later ones as awesome reads. Haunted is actually quite scary. The dark is very good (a more up to date version of the fog). The Ghosts of Sleath, Others, Once, Sepulcure & there r many more. The set pieces he describes are awesome - without doubt one of my favourite writers. Mike |
Well I'd go with Steve-O - I didn't hear of him until recently and I'm an avid reader.
I hold both authors in very high regard, they're very different and very similar at the same time. My favourite of the two depends on which one of their books is in my hand at the time. - H |
Just wish I had more time to read...... anything! :(
|
Uhhh...John Grisham...oh wait that's not a choice.
Well, John Grisham anyway. :D |
Stephen King rocks. If you've ever read the Dark Tower series or The Stand, you'll know why.
Koontz is okay too, but I think he lacks the subtle messages and feels King has. Plus the books I've read by Koontz all seem to play only with suspense and violence, where as King can write about, well, anything and make it sound interesting. Ever read Hearts In Atlantis? Ice |
Stephen King is the best!!!!
Ok, I've never read anything of Dean Koontz,.... but I don't want to read anything of him!! I'm happy with my King books!! (and also I think, that King is much more famous than Koontz, and much more sucessful!!) Yes, The Dark Tower is great :infinity: .... and the Stand... and It.... and so many others...! |
