Is Jon too tired to change the setlist???
hi!
if you look at the concert set lists of the american leg it seems as if there won't be any changes for the upcoming tour! BOUNCE YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME WILD IN THE STREETS LIVIN' ON A PRAYER EVERYDAY UNDIVIDED RUNAWAY JUST OLDER WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE THE DISTANCE this is the beginning of practically every show! what happened the band that changed the setlist every night?? you never knew what song was going to be next... |
I know. It gets quite tedious. He said in many interviews that he loves to change the setlist at the last moment just to keep the guys on their toes. Guess they've got nothing to worry about...........................at the moment at least.

Nothing like a routine sometimes.

i mean i know they've never been one for doing a completely different show night to night (with exception of one off gigs on NJ tour - ie Hammersmith odeon) but you'd think they'd want to keep it interesting |
Keep in mind, a lot of it has to do with lighting and the soundboard guys as well...
they have this elaborate lighting going on with all the lasers and those wild wideo screens. having that all set perfectly takes time. changing up setlists day after day wouldn't be too convienent fo the guys behind the scenes working all those things. having a "stable" set means less chance of lighting or sound stuff, etc getting screwed up because the crew guys knows what's coming up and they've been working it in that order for a while. remember, they're not playing small venues/clubs where they can just do whatever they want and not worry about a huge soundboard and lighting! However, I have seen bands that would just have 2 completely different setlists that they would alternate between show nights. That was cool because if you go to more than one show, you could see something completly different. and by limiting it to two different albeit "stable" sets, that would make it easier on the crew because of the daily structure...less chance of errors. so that's good for the fans, and good for the band and crew! ----->Fred --RnFnR!-- www.n-train.net |
I agree Fred. - Cool photo of you and Hugh, btw! :D
It's takes hours to programme the lights and sound etc. sometimes the crew are up all night programming and stuff. I also think that if the set works then why change it too much? Sometimes it takes a while for them to get the setlist right but on this tour it seems that they have nailed it already. The reactions from the fans and the press have been great so far. Most people are having a great time at the shows and that's all good. Remember we are talking about the masses here who only go to one of two shows. They simply can't cater for the small percentage of Die-hards who want to hear the rare stuff. Having said that, I think that we will see some changes for Europe and maybe they will throw in some Euro faves like "Next 100 Years" and "Something to Believe in" which will be cool! I would personally love to hear "Dry County", "Love me back to Life", "These Days" and Keep the Faith". If they did all 4 then I would be ecstatic!LOL But if they didn't, I wouldn't be dissapointed. I am just thankfull to be able to go to the shows and see my favourite band playing live. |

but I also want to heard Dry Country and Keep The faith  |
Jon... tired? Ha ha ha. Oh, that made me laugh so hard! If you've been to a show recently, you'll see Jon is anything but tired. I'm not trying to be mean when I say that. I just really found that funny. He's like the Energizer Bunny on a stimulant.

I just have to add something here: to all those who are complaining about the guys doing the same set at their shows. Have you thought about some of us, who aren't able to attend multiple concerts? So hearing the same set at several different shows isn't a problem for us?
I so wish that I was able to attend several concerts, but I was only lucky enough to be able to attend the one in Atlanta. I was just wanting to put my two cents in here. I get so tired of hearing people complain about hearing the same set lists...hey you are able to go to more than one show...stop complaining! Sorry for the rant. |
