The best Setlist? Probably Yokohama!
I know there are so many concert-goers and bootleg-collectors out there. Some of you must have a fine knowledge about different setlists over the years. Which surprised you the most? Which were the longest show Bon Jovi has done? Any memorable moments?
I got this bootleg from the 3rd show in Yokohama May 20th 1996. Look at it carefully, it's probably the best Bon Jovi setlist, the best I've seen yet. A 3 hours show, seems like they played all they could think of. Wish I was there. Lay your Hands on me (Marching band) Lay your Hands on me Bad Medicine ALL I WANT IS EVERYTHING You give Love a bad Name Runaway Bed of Roses WILD IS THE WIND Blood on Blood Wanted dead or alive (acoustic) I’d die for you (acoustic) In these Arms (acoustic) (It’s hard) Letting you go Something for the Pain Someday I’ll be Saturday Night I’ll sleep when I’m dead/Papa was a Rolling Stone Keep the Faith DRY COUNTY Blaze of Glory THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN Always This ain’t a Love Song Because the Night (a capella) DAMNED These Days Livin’ on a Prayer NEVER SAY GOODBYE (acoustic) Something to believe in HEY GOD My Guitar lies bleeding in my Arms I’ll be there for you |
Yeah, it's great :D

Well, this show was very good too. This was where I saw them in 1996 and although they played many ballads and slow songs it was great. It was the day Germany won the Europe Soccer Cup, so some people left the stadium before the show was done but it was all in all pretty amazing. Must have been close to 3 hours also. They started with the excellent Beatles cover "Helter Skelter" (that inspired me to play that song with my band) and put the marching band in the middle of the set. Not much left they didn't play!
Man, why don't they come up with setlists like these nowadays. In this point they seem to have lost some creativity. Bon Jovi: Waldstadion, Frankfurt, 30th June 1996 Helter Skelter You Give Love A Bad Name Runaway All I Want Is Everything Something For The Pain Lie To Me Rocking All Over The World Blood On Blood Diamond Ring - a cappella Damned Bad Medicine I’ll Be There For You - acoustic I’d Die For You - acoustic In These Arms - acoustic *marching band* Lay Your Hands On Me Someday I’ll Be Saturday Night I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead Keep The Faith (It’s Hard) Letting You Go Something To Believe In Hey God Drift Away Always Wanted Dead Or Alive These Days Blood Money Blaze Of Glory Livin’ On A Prayer So You Wanna Be A Rock’n’Roll Star This Ain’t A Love Song |
WOW  the best setlist I have ever see...
|
They played Drift Away, cool. :)

Yeah, I wonder if they actually filmed that day? I know the 19th was filmed cuz I have that and it's one of my top favorites. They were definately in a mode in those days. I've said it before, but I love how they would put Bad Medicine as the 2nd song, play the crap out of it, yet no false ending or dragging it out and getting it over with. It's like "ok we have to play this, but lets get it done with and get down to business" and then tearing into either Hey God or All I Want Is Everything.
It wasn't just the the songs they were playing that were fairly rare, it was also the performance of the mainstays that have always been there....such as Runaway. At a glance it might not seem different.....performed electrically as it always had been known.....but vocally it was done differently.....mournful.....conveying the tragedy of the song and in the end, fitting it better. I actually prefer these performances over the original and its one of those moments where you don't have to complain that Jon isn't screeching out the end parts anymore. The only thing I would change about it is using the original ending they had back in the 7,800F days or as heard on the "One Wild Night Live" album." |
both of those shows look awesome.....but ive never seen the yokohama tape for sale anywhere :(
i also think that the 7800 era of Runaway was better than the These Days era of it, i didnt think it was to great |
1996 tour was great - same with Manchester 1996 - loved it! great sets

Concerning Runaway... I love the 1995/96 versions of it. I got a bootleg from Bremen 1995 and is has a magic feeling to it, being the last song for a show or at least the second last. Like bleedinGuitar said, the atmosphere was better. In one way cooler than it was 1985, on the other hand it carried the lyrics better. And I also think this song doesn't fit in the beginning of a show, like Hey God, they both belong in the second half of a set.
The 2000 version was nice and something new, but I'm really hoping to hear it 2003 again - the fast version, the original. I remember the show in Stuttgart during the One Wild Night tour just before they changed the encores on stage and suddenly everybody started shouting "Runaway! Runaway! Runaway!" And I was so desperatly hoping they would play it... but they didn't... Therefore they played Mystery Train/I'll be there for you instead of Tequila/T&S. That was cool too! |
the setlists are so damn good....hope they play those songs also this year....but at the concerts they've played until now (this year I mean) the setlists weren't very originally....so we can only hope
i've got a question....does anybody now if it's right that ronan keating is support act in germany....on the official site it doesn't say that.... simon you're from germany , do you know?? |
