Mikes Music Forum (his own post)

This is a post sent to me by Mike who wanted it post as a sticky.
He writes the following:

"Hello again,

I posted this about a music Forum although in my haste (I was on someone elses computer - after been offline for a while) I don't think I was very clear & took a few posts to explain everything.

I am now back online & will try again:

The purpose of such a Forum would be to give the aspiring (& actual) musicians among the BJ community a place where they could discuss / exchange lyrics, guitar chords / tabs, bass tabs, piano tabs, triangle tabs etc.. which could be either BJ or non-BJ related.

The purpose of this post is to see how many people would be interested in participating in such a Forum. Depending on the number of responses there are 3 possible outcomes:

1: Minimal interest hence music forum idea will be discarded;

2: Overwhelming interest, in which case a main Forum would be used;

3: Substantial interest, yet not enough to warrant a main forum. This will result in a 'hidden' forum in which only people signed up to use it will be able to view it (if signed up it will appear as a normal forum). An announcement would probably be posted to make ppl aware of its existence.

Hence if you would be interested in participating in such a forum in either format 2 or 3, then please reply to this post so that I have an idea of possible demand.
Ppl who have already replied r as follows: MrSambo; Annie; Meggar; Martin 2000; Rune; Brijovi

One last thing - this is a long-term idea and is unlikely to implemented before the new Dry County site at the earliest.

Thanks

Mike

Exciting idea

Would be happy to be part of it (even Though Iīm no great or even any good musician). Anybody knows if we have to ask Bon Jovi before discussing chords and tabs of their songs in detail? Asking cause some bands donīt like it and let their lawyers send bad, bad letters. :?

Meggar 09-04-2002 06:18 PM

Here I am again :lol:

Apparently this issue came up a few years back when Basstabarchive was set up. Some record companies tried to shut it down - but it was a very grey area, & it was allowed to continue on the premise that it put up disclaimers saying these tabs etc.. r only to be used for personal study. Thats the nature of this forum - to share tabs etc.. for personal study & also new ideas for songs / lyrics etc....

& don't forget that BTA is a site that lists the tabs etc.. for anyone to come & view. This'll just be a forum where chords etc.. are merely discussed / shared. If u r still unconvinced, check out the discography section of Dry County.
