Band donates to Rodeo Scholarship Fund
Bon Jovi gives back to rodeo
After performing at RodeoHouston last week, musical rock group Bon Jovi made a $10,000 donation to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship Fund. Lead singer Jon Bon Jovi said Bon Jovi was happy to make the donation, following the group's first-ever performance at the rodeo. "We learned of the rodeo's scholarship fund and how they put students through college ... we wanted to be a part of this program," Bon Jovi said. "It's the right thing to do; an excellent cause." Fewer than five entertainers have ever made a direct contribution to the show's educational programs. The rodeo awarded more than $7 million in scholarships and other educational support to Texas students last year, and has contributed more than $92 million since the inception of its scholarship program in 1957. With a paid attendance of 68,232 in Reliant Stadium on March 12, Bon Jovi ranks in the top three performances in the history of RodeoHouston. |
