conscription (moral question)

k war is looming as we all know. i just want to see what people would do if conscription started again.

imagine you get a letter in the door saying your country wants you to fight in the war would you?

personally i would and i'll give my reasons later pon i just want to see people opinions first.

I would fight for my country and my children's future in a heartbeat!

As I've already served during war times (the gulf first time around), if I was asked to go back again I certainly would.

This is the key for me. I woudln't fight for this war, because I don't believe in it. I think the reasons are wrong, and I don't think it's something we should, or need to be involved in. I wouldn't fight for a cause I don't believe in.

Again, I don't think that what is happening now is fighting for our future. Take the second world war for instance, I could have got involved in that if I had been required to, because I believe in the cause, and I would have been protecting my family, and children.

If the war is 'just' (not talking about the Christian values), and I felt it was morrally right, and needed, then I think if I was called up I could go to war.....

I felt physically sick watching Galapolie (Mel Gibson), war really is my worst fear. I don't think I could live with myself if there was something really important, where I felt the war was right, and I allowed other people to die in my place. As it is though, I won't fight for something I don't believe in!

lol. It seems that two of the only people who really do understand exactly why we are going to war (Bush - Blair) are the two people who will enjoy the war from the comfort of their own armchair!!!!!!!!!!!!

choclady 03-18-2003 05:27 PM

No, I wouldn't. Never.
(and not just because i'm a girl and i cant see blood :P)

I agree with Hellman. :D

HECK NO! I'd leave the country first! I'll fight when the "enemy" lands a million soldiers in my back yard. Otherwise, if they order me to, I'll leave the country!
Switzerland or Mexico? I'm undecided.

Adrian
