Hi Mike - I would suggest driving from Erfurt to Mannhelm or Frankfurt airport, (whichever is nearest) and flying to Vienna, then flying back, pick up the car and drive to Gelsenkirshen. - To drive from Erfurt to Vienna then back to Gelsenkirshen will be almost impossible unless you are super human and don't need any sleep!lol
Or you could look into the possibility of taking the train.

Hope this helps.

Your welcome Mike!
No, I'm not going to Erfurt or Vienna this time.

I'm sure some German fans here may also be able to offer some advice on the trains?...

See ya on the road!

Hello Mike!

You should proceed as Donna has suggested. The train fare from Erfurt to Frankfurt is about €38.00 and the ride takes 2 hrs 10 mins to 2 hrs 20 mins. Check the timetable of trains operated by German Rail on their website which is also available in English:

http://www.bahn.de/pv/uebersicht/die...l_guests.shtml

We'll catch an Adria Airlines flight from Frankfurt to Vienna that we booked with Opodo at a rate of €109.00 (incl. taxes and fees). You may wanna check out Opodo's UK site at http://www.opodo.co.uk

Mike, are you going to Gelsenkirchen as well? If so, I suggest to book a flight from Vienna to Düsseldorf, which is just around the corner from Gelsenkirchen. We booked an Austrian Airlines flight from Vienna to Düsseldorf at a rate of €80.00 (incl. taxes and fees). We're leaving Vienna on May 30 at 07:15 am, so we'll make it to Gelsenkirchen in time.

I hope this helps. If I can be of any further assistance, please get in touch.

See ya out on the road! :)
