Do you Think...

that Napster or Kaaza is linked with terrorist activites?

My geek-computer-wiz boyfriend just send me this funny article: http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2003/3/14/234939/956

It seem that the American Governement think that simple College Student onthe web are linked with major terrorist activity!!! Look at what this representative say of College Students:

Quote:

And on the subject of P2P file sharing and college students:
Representative John Carter, a Texas Republican, suggested that college students would stop downloading if some were prosecuted and received sentences of 33 months or longer, like the defendants in the DOJ's Operation Buccaneer. "I think it'd be a good idea to go out and actually bust a couple of these college kids," Carter said. "If you want to see college kids duck and run, you let them read the papers and somebody's got a 33-month sentence in the federal penitentiary for downloading copyrighted materials."

 Sorry but just because I hang around on the web and because i go to Kaaza, don't mean I'm Ousama Ben Laden or any major terrorist!!!
so what do you think?

DevilsSon 03-19-2003 10:27 PM

That's crap. DOn't even read stuff like this!!!

Jeanne 03-19-2003 10:34 PM

yeah I know its crap but is so funny or actually really scary that USA government are trying to make laws on this? Can you believe it? the USA will try to arrest all of us college students taht go on Kaaza!!!

DevilsSon 03-19-2003 10:37 PM

Wow...that's unbelivable!
That sucks!
Thank God something like this won't happen here....I hope so...

Jeanne 03-19-2003 10:41 PM

no I'm pretty sure USA will make laws on it. They have already made the DMCA ( Digital Millenium Copyright Act). this law stop you to hack you own sofware! you buy a sofware with some crazy registration keys, and you cannot hack it if you want to use you own sofware, because they will put you in jail!

be afraid!!!

DevilsSon 03-19-2003 10:49 PM

Stop scarying me....hehe
Actualy it's not funny but...

joviscout 03-19-2003 10:53 PM

Ive said it a million times george bush is f*cking crazy.

Jeanne 03-19-2003 11:21 PM

Do you want to know who are pushing for the anti-copy laws?
its the RIAA ( the recording industry associationof america or something like taht!) the RIAA hate Kaaza and Naspter because that takes awya money form them!

When you buy a CDm, the fees for the copyright usually don't go to the artist directly: its goes to a big collecting agency like the RIAA, then this collecting agency will split the money collected acoording to whom had some sucess on the billboard or other charts!

so that means that if you are a small band and you sell like 1000 cd, you will never see the money because you were not on the top 40. so Birtney Spears will get the money that should have belong to you bec ause she is more succesful!!!
( o.k. i'm overs-limplifying here but thats almost it!)
Recording industry can be crap for small artist!!!

its just an attempt to get people to stop downloading pirated software,

they've been doing here for years - saying buying Copied games gives money to drug dealers

This article is not really aimed at people downloading music, more h4xed programs and films

Martin 03-20-2003 12:36 AM

now that's great: getting 33 month for downloading a few albums... those guys are absolutely crazy and i honestly think that they're far away from sanity and guys with oppinions like that should be banned from politics- it's really getting close to a brave new world... it scares me a bit... anyway- the politicians go mad- arsenal's out- i'm tired... i go to bed... 4 hours of organic chemistry 2morrow  better think of the past

good night folks!
