Band's physical health

How much the guys' health was affected by their lifestyle in the 80s? They look healthy. But maybe it's only from outside.

Does anyone know anything?

Jon had to have knee surgery to repair wear and tear on his maniscus (I'm not sure I spelled that right). Jon has always been more sickly than the other guys--lots of allergies and the shows were more physically demanding on him. Jon has always maintained that he didn't do drugs after a horrible incident he had when he was 13 after which he had to be hospitalized. He's said that his lifestyle and the other guys lifestyles were such that you wouldn't even think they were on the same tour. They all drank a lot though. Tico has supposedly gone through AA and quit drinking. He gave up smoking too, but started back. Richie and Alec were always surrounded with more drug using rumors. David contracted an intestional parasite in 1990 in South America and was sick for months. As far as what they did and who did what, that's stuff you don't hear the details on. They really do keep their dirty laundry private. However, they ALL seem healthier and happier than they were in the 80's.

And check out the credits page in the tour programme. They got trainers and chiros... and Jon's talked about working out and lessons with vocal coaches. Just LOOK at them now and they look really healthy... so perhaps whatever damage they might have done to themselves in their youth has been tempered with the extra effort they seem to put into taking care of themselves now.

Thanks for the reply.

When I see some of Bon Jovi "peers" from the 80s, I feel unsettled. Thank God our guys knew their limits.
