gah..

The missile had locked on to the second Tornado after the Patriot battery radar indicated that the jet was an Iraqi anti-radiation missile. The U.S. lieutenant at the Patriot battery on the Kuwait/Iraq border was faced with a split second decision. She pressed the button to launch the surface to air missile which exploded into the Tornado as it prepared to land.

This is horribly sad. Now why is 'she' in bold?

Eeeeek. I would not want to be in her shoes right now.

The alliance has lost more people in it's own battles or mistakes than in the actual war. Shows how much they know... :)

It's useless to resist alliance. Just wait till they have bombed each other enough. It's really dangerous to go war with USA. Ally or not. Doesn't seem to matter.

But in truth, operations this large always include idiots and human mistakes. :(

It's very sad that these senseless mistakes are made in war. Although we can condemn them, I know I wouldn't want to be in their position, having to make these judgement calls. The friendly fire incident back in Afganistan where 4 Canadian soldiers were killed was very devastating for families in my city. All 4 victims were from Edmonton.
