Everything you need to know about the singles from Bon Jovi.
Aloha
I’m getting a bit sick of all those questions about where which song was released on single, or what the b-sides will be and so on. But instead of complaining, I’ve made a list with all the released singles all over the world. But first you need to read my comments. Bon Jovi, or the record company, have decided to “split” the world into five pieces. You’ve got the US : Since the single Something For The Pain/Lie To Me, they never get any single released for commercial targets. The record company just sends cdpromo’s to the radio stations, so they can decide what to do with it. If a radio company doesn’t like to song, it won’t be played. Since you’re not able to buy one, they will not know if the song is liked by many people. They just have to do it with the votes on their sites, or the requests on the radio. It’s an unfair market, and it is one of the reasons why songs from Bon Jovi don’t end up high in the American charts. But before It’s My Life the US most of the time only gets the first single from a new album for commercial targets, the rest was just the same story as what is happening now. Because there are no singles for commercial targets, The US never gets any b-side. The following countries belong to the US : Canada US Mexico Cuba You’ve got the UK: The UK always gets 2 CD Maxi’s with 3 songs on it. There is a law about that. It says that artists are not allowed to put more then 3 songs on a CD Maxi. That law has been made ‘cause of the reason that some CD Maxi’s turned out to last 40 minutes. Take a look at Michael Jacksons singles from the HIStory Era. They last 30 to 40 minutes because of the many remixes on them. The following countries belong to the UK : Scotland England Wales Ireland You’ve got Europe : Since It’s My Life, Europe always gets 3 versions. 1 cardboard one, which contains 2 tracks. And 2 jewelcases, named part 1 and part 2. The cardboard always contains the title track, and one of the tracks from the jewelcases. The jewelcases both contain the title track, and three different songs on each part. Though of those many versions, only The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany always have them all. Most of the time the rest of the countries in Europe import only one of them, and most of the time it’s the cardboard. Because that is the most cheap one. The following countries belong to Europe : The Netherlands Belgium France Luxembourg Spain Portugal Finland Sweden Norway Danmark Germany Switserland Austria Italy Greece Chsech (or however you spell it) Slowake And for some reason Taiwan too… You’ve got Japan In Japan it’s a mess. Normally they get one version with 4 tracks, but it happens that they get 2 versions, or only one with songs on it. You never really know what Japan will get. The following country belongs to Japan : Japan. You’ve got Australia. In Australia it’s a mess too. Since Crush they always get two versions though. With the exception of It’s My Life. The following countries belong to Australia : Australia New Zealand This information is for 100% correct, but it’s only correct since Keep The Faith. Before Keep The Faith it was a complete mess all over the world. Because there were the releases on vinyl ánd CD. Now here’s a complete list with all the singles released all over the world. This list may be incorrect too, and if you see something wrong on it, please inform me about it. 1.Runaway (US, and later on Japan and UK too) 2.She Don’t Know Me (Us and later on Japan too) 3.Burning For Love (Japan only) 4.Only Lonely (US and Japan) 5.In And Out Of Love (US, Japan and later on the UK too) 6.Hardest Part Is The Night (UK only) 7.Borderline (Japan only) 8.You Give Love A Bad Name 9.Livin’ On A Prayer 10.Wanted Dead Or Alive 11.Never Say Goodbye 12.Wild In The Streets (radio single US only) 13.Bad Medicine 14.Born To Be My Baby 15.I’ll Be There For You 16.Lay Your Hands On Me 17.Living In Sin 18.Keep The Faith 19.In These Arms 20.Bed Of Roses 21.I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead 22.I Believe (UK, Europe and Japan) 23.Dry County (UK, Europe and Japan) 24.Good Guys Don’t Always Wear White (US only) 25.Always 26.Please Come Home For Christmas (UK only) 27.Someday I’ll Be Saturday Night 28.This Ain’t A Love Song 29.Something For The Pain (though Something For The Pain/Lie To Me was released for commercial targets in the US) 30.Lie To Me 31.These Days (UK, Europe, Japan and Australia) 32.Hey God (UK, Europe, Japan and Australia) 33.Wedding Day (Germany only) 34.Real Life 35.It’s My Life 36.Say It Isn’t So 37.Thank You For Loving Me 38.One Wild Night 2001 (US, UK, Europe and Australia) 39.Wanted Dead Or Alive (live) (The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany only) 40.Everyday 41.Bounce/Misunderstood (Japan) 41.Misunderstood (US, UK, Europe and Australia) 42.The Distance (Japan) 42.Bounce (US) 42.All About Lovin’ You (UK, Europe and Australia) So, this is the complete list. The list is intended to be a guide really - it's not exclusively UK only releases but since most of my singles are from the UK that is what's it's based on. |
Edge of a broken heart was a "radio single" in the 80's.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea that Burning for Love was a single in Japan.
What about Silent Night? Wasn't that a single? (I could be wrong....) |
