Favorite Painter
Hi guys,
I was having a e-mail conversation with a fellow Jovitalk friend (you know who you are!) and I was wondering who is his favorite painter. So I'm now forwarding the question to all of you! I have actually three favorite artists, two are well-known Quebec painter and the other is my Dad. My dad went to art school in the same time then my two other favorite painter, so his style his quite similar. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of my father's painting but I'm posting here picture of some work done by my two other favorite painter. It will give you an idea of what I like. So here is a picture of Jean-Paul Riopelle "Autriche" done 1954. http://www.mbam.qc.ca/expopassees/im...pelle-big1.jpg the picute doesn't quite render the texture of the work, but Riopelle used to paint with spatula instead of a normal brush. My other favorite painter is Paul-Émile Borduas. Also of the same school and same period of Quebec art. He was one of the artist in Quebec that started a manisfesto know as Refus Glogal (tanslation total negation) that advocated for the rejection of the strict constrait the Chruch used to put of Quebec people! the following work is called Translucidité(1955). http://www.peinturequebec.com/peintu...g/borduas7.jpg You can also see that Borduas used to paint with a spatula instead of a brush. My other favorite painter are Jackson Pollock, this is a 1952 work called Convergence. http://www.kidsart.com/IS/pollock.jpg and JMW Turner, the following work is called SnowStorm(1842) http://simsim.rug.ac.be/water/w/ELA/turner1.jpg well, so basically you can I'm a fan of Modern Abstract Art. I just love abstract art, particularly the abstract expressionist like Pollock, Boardus, Riopelle. But I have to admit I'm really attracted to anything done by Piet Mondrian, and his neoplasticist style. here is one of the Composition in red, yellow and blue-(1921) http://www.haberarts.com/mondrian.jpg Well, now you can see my favorite style of painting. What is yours? Who his your favorite painter? |
I'm a huge fan of Wallasse Ting - I love his use of bright colours and simple imagery - his prints really add character to a room - I have a couple at home. Go here to see a couple of samples......

My fave is Vincent Van Gogh. nobody did the same thing, just look at "l'église d'auvers sur oise", or at "vol de corbeaux au dessus de champ de blé".... as close to perfection as you can be.

My favourite would not really be a painter, but more a drawer / graphic artist: M.C. Escher :D
famous for his 'impossible structures' like 'Relativity': http://www.nga.gov/image/a00015/a0001557.jpg ^^ got that one as a poster (framed) hanging on my wall ;) but also some realistic work like 'Street in Scanno, Abbruzi: http://www.mcescher.nl/Biography/lw131f11.jpg |
Monet is my favourite ... and impressionism in general
"Bathers at la Grenouillère" is one of the best painting for me. Sara, you know M.C. Esher ? i have some books of his work at home, "house of stairs" is completely crazy !! |

ANNE NEBERT
Just look at this: http://www.ecosoft.ro/caol-gallery/g..._dezinvolt.jpg ALBRECHT DUERER's drawings were amazing. How comes noone mentioned him. I actualy like most of the styles and even Tico's paintings are pretty good. Do you know his YELLOW FACES? That pa9inting is great. |
for me at the moment it's Kandinsky
