Bon Jovi, Jon.

Bon Jovi, the Band.

It's not wrong to talk about Bon Jovi as a person. His surname just happens to be the same what the bands name is. :!: :!: :!:

that's true. But do you hear "Tyler did this and that" or "Springsteen did this and that" on the radio? I don't. When they talk about Steven Tyler they say Steven Tyler and not only Tyler.

So it's not that they mean Bon Jovi as the surname.

Bruce Springsteen is often mention by his surname. At least in swedish magazines and newspappers.

"Oh, are you're going to see Jon Bon Jovi this summer?"

I've been asked this, and most people I tell about concerts e.t.c refere to the band as Jon Bon Jovi....

They tend to wish they hadn't though after the lecture I give them!!!!!!!!

Because Jon's name is the band, if you're refering to Jon you shouldn't refere to him as Bon Jovi.... people won't do this..... It's like everybody who talks about presidents in America will say George Doubleya (W) Bush..... so as to make it clear who they're talking about.... If your talking about Jon, you have to say Jon Bon Jovi, otherwise it's not clear who you're talking about

MOST people don't CARE what the distinction between Jon Bon Jovi and Bon Jovi is. It only bothers us because we know there's a difference and care that there's a difference.

It's appropriate to refer to Jon as Bon Jovi if his full name has been mentioned previously in an article or report. And it is the standard practice--the same thing they do for other celebrities. If they're talking about Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman reporters will say, "Cruise and Kidman" more often than they would say "Tom and Nicole."

dont forget people, the name Bon Jovi was chosen for the band with the intent of blurring the line between frontman and band

looks like it worked

True. However, most people really don't CARE about entertainers one way or another. The guys in the band mean more to the people who hang out on this message board than the general public. The general public--which is where the majority of the "Bon Jovi he" comments would come from--just doesn't care. To them it's entertainment. Most people have better things to concern themselves about in life than whether Bon Jovi is a he or a they.
