Default Should they drop In These Arms?

So, should they? In These Arms is an absolutely brilliant track. The vocals on it are just passionate, and the melody and guitar work is just superb. It sounded awesome live... on the Keep the Faith Tour. But with it being tuned down so low nowadays and Bobby slaughtering the solo, do you think it should be dropped out of live sets? I personally think it should. It's just too low, too dull, and the solo doesn't help at all.

Please reply if you vote...

no way, I like Tico's drums on that song, I know it's tuned down but it still sounds amazing and bobby's face looks funny while he's playing the solo as if he was playing richie's solo for dry county...

I voted No cause I really liked it in Mannheim, although it's definitely quite low.
I'd take it over any Lost Highway song/Who Says/Crash anyday.

But Dave should at least sing one verse

I also vote no. Much like Born To Be My Baby, the sheer greatness of the song shines through occasionally sleepwalking performances. And to be fair, although clearly I'd have preferred Richie, the Bobby solo I saw at Bristol wasn't that bad.

I voted no. Sure it's downtuned but it doesn't sound bad enough to drop. I think it's good live and would still be better without Bobby's solo, but that solo gives me a little bit of time to focus on getting a great picture without having to pay attention to the sound.

No, it still sounds good enough to me even with the downtuning and Bobbys one note extravaganza. Would have been nice if they gave it the acoustic treatment on the circle occasionally, or let Dave sing more.

They should play it the way they did back in 1996, the Yokohama version is amazing.

And yes, I still really like the song!

I haven't voted because I find it just too difficult to choose. If the song remains exactly as it is now, then maybe it should be dropped (it's hard to give it a full blooded yes because i love it so much). However, it would be just so so much better if they played it not only with Richie's solo but with the original arpeggios that are in the chorus on the album. Unfortunately as part of the tuning down process they play different chords, I suppose they could just tune the guitars down even further and play it in the correct way.

No way! It's always one of the highlights during a show and really gets the crowd going. I for one dosen't really understand why people find the song THAT bad these days.. I think Jon does a decent job! Bobbys solo though is proabably one of the funniest moment during a show at least

I voted no - it's still great, even with the changes. It also makes me think back fondly to the first time I saw them live in 1993 and ITA was the single that was on release at the time I saw them at Wembley Arena. Still got the cassette single somewhere, though no means to actually play it.
