Default R. Kelly Documentary Screening Canceled by Shooting Threat

Quote:
CNN: A New York screening of the Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly was evacuated after "several anonymous threats were called in," the network said...

An unknown caller said that if the film continued to play, someone inside the theater would start shooting, (a) spokesperson said..."As a precaution, the network chose to evacuate the building..."

Kelly has long been the subject of allegations of sexual abuse and mistreatment of women and girls. He has denied any wrongdoing and has not been charged with any crimes connected with the women's allegations...

Lifetime describes the forthcoming series as an investigation into the controversial singer in which women come forward "with new allegations of sexual, mental and physical abuse."

"Calling in a noncredible threat to the NYPD to interrupt our screening is an act of desperation from people who don't want these truths shared with the world," Executive Producer and Showrunner Dream Hampton said...
Quote:
TMZ: The investigation into who threatened to shoot up an New York City screening of Surviving R. Kelly...has led cops to someone in R. Kelly's hometown...

The police's person of interest is a man with Chicago's 773 area code...Cops aren't ready to release the man's name yet, and it's unclear if he has any direct connection to Kelly...
A direct connection to Kelly? No way -- definitely a "loyal" deranged fan. The call may have come from Kelly's home town, but if Kelly is clever enough to run a sex slave colony for nearly twenty years without being jailed, he MUST be clever enough to arrange for an untraceable phone threat!

TMZ 2/24/19: R. Kelly just surrendered to police in Chicago ... turning himself in after being charged with sexual abuse of 4 girls, at least 3 of whom were minors...(P)rosecutors in Chicago hit Kelly with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse...and 9 of the 10 counts involve alleged victims ranging in age from 13 to 16 years old...

(An attorney) representing at least one of the alleged victims...says (a) new sex tape he turned over to prosecutors shows Kelly engaging in sex acts with a 14-year-old girl...(and he)...claims Kelly's 2008 trial -- in which he was found not guilty -- was rigged by threats and payoffs.
Quote:
TMZ 2/25/19: Kelly's $100k bond -- 10% of his $1 million bail -- was finally posted...after he appeared in court and entered a not guilty to plea to all 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse...

Although Kelly's out, he's staring down another deadline...(H)e has to pay about $160k in back child support to his ex-wife...by March 6. If he doesn't, it's right back to County lockup...

It's possible he could be facing additional charges after...a NEW tape showing Kelly having sex with the same 14-year-old girl from the other tape...
Kelly has a world tour scheduled to begin in Germany next month.
