Default Question for guitar players

Okay, if you know much about me, you know the guitar is not the instrument I tend to pay the most attention to when I'm listening to music--especially not on a first listen. However, I recently bought a Cheap Trick CD that has some live recordings on it and I was really impressed with Rick Nielsen. His guitar actually caught my attention and I found myself focusing on it on first listen, when I would usually focus on Robin Zander's vocals. I was wondering what you guitar players think of him if you're familar with his work.

not heard alot of cheap trick but the guy definetely has the skills.

he's well known in guitar circles for his guitar collection. i read an interview on gibsons website a while ago with hiom and he says he's got a warehouse just full of guitars he's bought.

kind of a shame that not all of them are getting played but in the end. his money. his stuff.

try and find a picture of his 5 necked guitar. if you thought richies double and triple neck ovations looked big and heavy wait till u see that mofo.

I just had to look up this 5 neck guitar, and must say it looks crap:

Richie's double neck still looks coolest, lol.

Wtf is the point of that? There is no way you could ever reach the bottom necks. Ever!

it straps on around the middle andrew. it would be simlilar to playing a double neck, just further up or a bit lower.

Yeah - but still a clumsy instrument to play - no grace at all. Better to change guitars fast. Unless the sound from it was awesome of course.

it wasn't made for playing (in the traditional sense of the word) to be honest, more as a show piece.

I had seen his five neck guitar before. There were photos of it in the Lap of Luxury tape I bought years ago. "The Flame" is one of my all time favorite songs. I have another CT CD that has a black and white checked 5 neck on the cover.
