Default Calendar Boys - it made me laugh!

Hey all!

Thought this might amuse some of you...my Mum bought me the Bon Jovi calendar for Christmas and had attached this to it in an envelope...it's a fictitious poem she wrote about the circumstances surrounding the decision to release an official Bon Jovi calendar this year! It made me laugh, so I thought I'd share it!

CALENDAR BOYS

The postman arrived at the Bongiovi house,
One sunny Jersey day,
He said, "There's mail from England here,
Judging by the stamp I'd say".
Jon got all excited,
Crying out with glee,
"At last the work is finished,
I bet they want me to open Wembley".

The family all crowded round,
Jon opened the envelope,
"I wanted to be first at Wembley,
I never gave up hope".
He began to read the letter,
It concerned the band with his name,
"Blimey Dot, I've done it,
We've got in the British Music Hall of Fame".

He got straight on the phone to Hugh,
To tell him about the award,
But Hugh got the wrong end of the stick, saying,
"At long last I've got some reward.
I may not be a member,
But at least I'm getting some recognition",
But Jon dashed his hopes straight away,
As he told him of his mission.

"I want you to phone up all the others,
I haven't the time you see,
I'm busy being a philanthropist,
So can you pass on the news for me?
I'm sorry there's no award for you,
That was never going to be.
You'd have to be a member of Bon Jovi,
And that's not going to happen, sorry".

It didn't take long for Richie to call,
"Great news, I've had an awful year,
But really it's all thanks to the fans,
Without them we wouldn't be here.
I think we should do something for them,
To thank them for all they have done.
After all they've bought 100,000,000 records,
They deserve something in return".

"But I haven't got any time", said Jon,
"I've got so much on my plate,
What with the band, acting, charity and football,
It'll all just have to wait".
"What about a calendar?" asked Richie,
"That would be simple to do.
We could use existing pictures,
There needn't be any input from you".

Jon thought it over quickly,
He really liked to be in control.
But he couldn't afford the time it would take,
He had to concentrate on the Soul.
"Those guys on Dry County" he said,
"Moan there hasn't been a calendar for two years,
They think we might never do another again,
This would certainly allay all their fears".

So the time came for the band to go to England,
To receive the award they deserved.
They dressed up in their best bib and tucker,
And sat in the seats that had been reserved.
Dave's girlfriend made an effort and looked pretty,
She had dressed up for the night,
But the same couldn't be said of Dorothea,
My goodness, she looked a bit of a fright.

The time arrived for them to go on the stage,
All four of them stood, smiling and proud,
Hugh waited patiently in the background,
As the applause rang out clear and loud.
The time came for the band to perform,
And as any true Jovi fan knows,
They couldn't have done it without Hugh,
He's been there through the highs and the lows.

So if we are to be perfectly honest,
It's as we fans have thought all along,
All the members of Bon Jovi are important,
But without us it could all have gone wrong.
And as you place this calendar, Rachel,
On the wall at your house in Manc,
Remember it wouldn't be there but for one person,
It's Richie we have to thank.
