Default Bon Jovi to Headline Live8 in Philly

I saw that sombody posted on that other site that Piere Robert, the dj friend of the band, announced yesterday on the radio that Bon Jovi will be headlining Live 8 in Philadelphia .

So for anyone planning on going, you'll know when Bon Jovi will be on!

He's probably just saying that to make it sound good for the band. These kind of events don't have headliners and they all have equal billing playing about 15 minutes each. Theyalso have not announced anything about London having a headliner, so I doubt it will be different for Philadelphia.

Yeah but isn't the headliner the one who always takes the stage last and can play for a bit longer?

I'm not sure for this kind of event. The bands playing should stay ego free because at the end of the day, it's not about them but the cause. I guess we will have to wait and see!

Pretty positive that at Live Aid back in '85, Queen played for a good 14 years longer than anybody else, so I think there is a possibility of 'headliners'

At any festival, it's likely the last act will play longer. Even if they're not referred to as a "headliner," the simplicity of it is that no one is going to follow them so they don't HAVE to get off the stage after 15 or 20 minutes. If the show is going well and there's no curfew, I can see whoever plays last (be it Bon Jovi or any other act) playing longer than the predecessors.

I've heard that U2 are the "headliners" for the Hyde park gig

U2 may be headliners but they are opening that show since they have a concert in Vienna (I think) that night.
