Stephen Wells just had a (mostly bollocks) piece in the guardian about 'intelligent' music being shite.

It featured this question at the end -

Bruce is one of the best artists of all time and I can't stand Meatloaf's popmpous, overblown theatre-rock.

When Meatloaf makes an album as good as Born To Run, Nebraska, Born In The USA, Darkness On The Edge Of Town or the majority of Bruce's albums, get back to me.

wait so what one is he claiming to be intelligent?

meatloaf has the whole rockopera-esque thing going on but bruce has writtens ome very witty and poignant lyrics in his time even if the music itself isn't particularly bourgeois
