Default Best and worst "album experience" (not: collection of songs)

Let me stress this again and before the rest: This is not about the best and worst collection of songs.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE BEST AND WORST SONGS.

This is about the album with the best flow, the best sequencing (which makes the songs click even more), the best balance between a unified set of songs and variety, the most consistent quality.

For example, I love Keep The Faith. Great album. However, the second half of it is clearly weaker than the first. It is not a brilliant listen all the way through. However, the variety is great. Still, as an "album-album", I'd say it's not the band's greatest. I also like quite a lot of the songs on Bounce. However, the album is all over the place. Terrible sequencing and pacing.

I am not crazy about the songs on Crush, but it 100% has its own sound, a vibe very unique to it, and the songs work together well. So that one is a stronger "unified album" than it is as a collection of songs. Same for Lost Highway. I don't even like the album, but as far as being cohesive and all goes, it absolutely works.

I am also sure many people are gonna pick These Days as the best "album-album", but to me it is just such a drag to listen to all the way through. Also, the first five songs were the singles, so even if you like side B, that tells you something.

Bon Jovi
Slippery When Wet
New Jersey
These Days
Lost Highway

They work quite well as full albums for me even though I hold some in higher regards than others. Not sure if WAN and THINFS being coherently dull and mundane also counts

Best:

These Days
New Jersey
Slippery When Wet

Worst:

Well, I was gonna say Burning Bridges, but those songs weren’t written with the intention of sounding like a cohesive album together, so that’s not really fair

I'm going to get a lot of shit for this but HAND, for me. It (maybe overly) corrected Bounce's topsy turvy genre-soup but the songs and production style worked really well. It didn't go harder song, mid tempo, ballad, mid tempo, ballad, harder song, it was just consistent and easy to find the groove to.

THINFS is one of the worst for me, although that might be on me. I always listened to the super duper deluxe edition, but there's just not many albums that work for an extent of... 17 (?) songs. This certainly is not among them.

Oh HAND is absolutely cohesive AND has great songs to boot. I know people are angry about Shanks being a thing, but I don't think that album specifically gets that much flack, even around here.

Im also a HAND lover , great songs with a real " rock " feel , for me their last great record and its in my top 4 albums. Shanks get a lot of shit on here but to be fair to him he's only doing what he's told by Jon production wise . Listen to Van Halen's last record from 2011 time, its heavy as ****

True, HAND is really easy to find the groove to. Would’ve been one of the next ones on my list as well!

The first three albums and These Days but Slippery I can only listen with a tracklist I made that includes Borderline, I don't know why but I don't like the original tracklist especially the first half of the album... this is how I listen

Bad Name
Raise Your Hands
Prayer
Borderline
Without Love
Wanted

Let It Rock
Social Disease
I'd Die For You
Never Say Goodbye
Streets
