Default Is there a reason why any of these songs were performed live?

Hi everyone!

Would you mind if I asked you why this song never got to be performed live?

Real Life
Wedding Day
Prostitue
Starting All Over Again
Hearts Breakin' Even

The tone for SAOA was never right... Neither Real Life nor Wedding Day were performed live.

The question has been on my mind for years now.

The most likely answer is Wedding Day, Starting All Over Again and Prostitue weren't on major releases. B-sides almost never get played.

Real Life was released in a "between" period and wasn't enough of a hit to warrant it being done on the Crush tour

Hearts Breakin' Even is the only one of that list that had any real chance of getting a play.

EDIT: I guess if All I want is Everything made the cut as one of the only bonus tracks to get played on tour, it opens up SAOA for it as well.

I agree with you, but Real Life and Wedding Day were singles, weren't they?

Yes and no. They were released as physical singles but it doesn't always mean it was sent to radio. Real Life was released whilst the band were working on Crush so by the time that tour rolled around, it was already two years after the song was out. I'm a little surprised they didn't do the talk show circuit to promote the song/soundtrack inclusion but maybe if the movie didn't tank it would have had a better chance. I remember much the Truman Show stuff took away its chances.

Wedding Day came from an album that had 5 singles of its own. Some shows for These Days had 8 or 9 songs being played per night.

Jon said about SAOA that if they sang it live, they could've ended the tour after one week. Too hard on his vocals for a live show.

That helps explain it partially, but it raises another question: If these songs are more popular for die heart fans than the official singles, why did Jon not try to get some live ... in the same way as Miracle did

Sorry I'm not sure I understand, did Miracle ever get played live apart from the attempt in '97?

Nope, just that one messy tryout.

Sorry for confusing you guys
It’s hard to do 120 things at the same time + cover freight and type.

What I meant it was that for some reason the same happened with Miracle since BAD got its tryout on Start ‘94 radio show back in the 2000’s and fully played later in 2008 (if not mistaken).

I think Real Life did not do very well, and as has been mentioned, it was an in between kind of track. By the time the band was back full time with Crush, that was probably more of a sour memory of a band that just had bounced back with It's My Life. So I don't think they'd ever felt overtly keen to revisit that one.

It's not like it's a great track either! If they're gonna that style of song, Say It Isn't So is a much stronger cut IMO.
