Default There Has To Be 4th Singles

Inspired by another thread, I started thinking how there has to be a fourth single off "Have a Nice Day". Basically we're looking at the same time-line here as with Bounce and we know what a monumental cock-up the record company made with that album. Both albums had the first single out in late summer but the cock-ups started happening with the second single. Missunderstood came out around early November and did very well in the US since they were touring at the same, however in Europe the song bombed and completely dissapeared by January. Then we had to wait all of 4 and a half months for another single only to get a shitty ballad with a winter video for the big summer single. How ridiculous!

So what's gonna happen this time. Who Says will come out as Bon Jovi are touring North America and I really can't see a song like this doing the business in Europe, I would love to be wrong but I wont be backing my house on a top 10 song. We already know Welcome will be the next one but surely they can't wait till summer to release that because even if WSYCGH dose well it will be gone by Febuary and Welcome is NOT a summer song. So do you think they'll knock that one out by Febuary and then get a good rock tune like "Novocaine" or "Last Cigarette" out for summer time?

I just have this terrible feeling the record company will mess things up again and leave a big gaping hole between Christmas and summer to release another song. This album and these songs deserve far better.

Aloha !

Why do people think Misunderstood was a succes in the US? It wasn't half the succes there as it was in Europe. All About Lovin' You was delayed for to me unknown reasons. It was supposed to be out 3 weeks before valentines day or something, but it didn't happen. Bounce would've been the fourth release, but because All About Lovin' You was delayed that much, Bounce was canceled in Europe.

There only needs to be a fourth single of the previous 3 do well enough.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Misunderstood was a mild success in the US. It was played alot more on the radio than Everyday was.

If I were a record company exec, and a 3rd single failed, I would push for a 4th single. I don't know - Seems like it would help to push sales a bit more.

Yeah, I had heard AALY was suppose to be released around Valentines day aswell but I assumed that since Missunderstood bombed they just held it till they were over here and didn't feel the need to spend the extra money on an album that had alread failed commercially. Well lets hope they get it right this time.

Correct me if I'm wrong but my immediate impression was that releasing singles helped promoted the album and if by the 3rd single, sales weren't doing do well, my natural instinct would be to release a 4th and even 5th single to help sell the record.

I thought at least thats how it used to work.

I know that the band were in their prime between 1992 and 1996 and hense released 6 of KTF and 5 of These Days but to cut down to just 3 is a bit crap don't you think?

At least we can still hope that as soon as Welcome (which I really like btw) and Who Says (which I don't really mind) are out the way and the record company push for a 4th single, we'll more than likely get a hard rock song released after. Although I don't dislike Wildflower in the slightest, I would REALLY not want it released as a single.

Misunderstood wasn't actually properly released until just before Christmas, at least in the UK. The video was released around early November if I remember rightly, no idea when radio airplay started. I think its probably about time to think about announcing a new single at least. Hopefully there will be a 4th single, perhaps even a 5th ... I dunno, you kinda don't wanna leave all the worst songs as album tracks, so maybe on an album thats not as strong as previous releases, it may be an idea not to release too many ... Ah, I dunno. But 4 singles would be good

It's rather expensive to release singles, make videos and stuff like that.

yeah, but this album deserves to be a massive hit. There are so many good songs on it, and I can't believe the people that are making these decisions and I can't understand why Jon doesn't make these decisions. Release the rock songs if you want your album to come accross as a full rock album!
And there's enough songs to be released:
I wanna be loved, Last man standing (which my mom even sings along, think that says it all), one last cigarette (which even my brother likes!!), I am, Complicated. These would all be hits. Story of my life would also be a good single I think but I'm not sure.

And then there's dirty little secret which has sleeper hit written all over it.
Novocaine I don't know... I like the song very very very much, but I don't think it would be a hit.

I'm not saying this album is the best they have done (it's my second favorite actually), but I dó think that for singles only this album has the most "possible" hit songs on it. If only they would release the right songs....

Dirty little secrets is a b-side, a bonus track.

Yes, there are a lot of radio friendly tunes on HAND, but that doesn't necessarily means that there are a lot of hit singles on HAND. I would say that a lot of those songs are too catchy and will pass the radio listeners by, they don't catch your attention.

hmm I disagree. Catchy is good for a hitsong. But I guess we'll never know how every song on HAND would do.
