Default DEF LEPPARD's 'Songs From The Sparkle Lounge' debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200

DEF LEPPARD's new album, "Songs from the Sparkle Lounge", sold 55,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart.

To coincide with the release of "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge", the group's UK label has launched a new "Sparkle Lounge" microsite. TheSparkleLounge.com gives fans opportunities to listen to samples of the new album, watch the video for leadoff single "Nine Lives", listen to samples of the new album, win Guitar Hero III prizes, watch a trailer for the bonus DVD (UK only), and more.

"Songs From The Sparkle Lounge" contains 11 new songs, including the new hit single "Nine Lives", featuring a collaboration with country music superstar Tim McGraw. The album includes a limited-edition custom PikCARD, which unlocks the DEF LEPPARD online "Vault" (named after the band's best-selling greatest-hits CD). Inside the "Vault", DEF LEPPARD fans have exclusive access to a variety of content, contests and memorabilia, featuring highlights such as personal photos from the road, registration to the band's fan club, entry into an exclusive contest to win backstage passes and VIP access the next time DEF LEPPARD comes to the winner's town, new album lyrics — handwritten by Joe Elliott — and a personal messages from the band.

DEF LEPPARD has announced new U.S. tour dates that will kick off this August. The dates include cities that the band postponed recently due to an upper respiratory tract infection affecting the band’s lead singer, Joe Elliott.

Yes, Bon Jovi has a bigger fanbase.

At lease Def Leppard don't try to forget their legacy!

Oh please - The 1st single on the album they threw Tim McGraw in to try and boost sales. The last song on the album is blatant ripoff of a recent Bon Jovi hit.

I like Leppard as much as the next guy, but let's be realistic here.

Of course the new songs are nothing like High n' Dry, I know. But they don't act like they had nothing to do with the Hair Metal era. They are proud of their legacy and peers.

Have you ever seen an interview with Joe Elliot talking about that?

He basically denies being part of the whole hair metal thing worse than Bon Jovi does, at least Jon aknowledges they are public "baby pictures". Also Joe has been saying since about 2001 that the band were never a metal band, something which their hardcore fans from their High'n'Dry-previous era strongly disagree with.

That's because they've never had any success with other stuff than their hair metal albums. Would their albums from the nineties actually have made an impact it'd be a completely different story.

Def Leppard = Bon Jovi copycats in my book.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Adrenalize (1992) reached 3x Platinum in the US and sold 7 million units worldwide.

Retro Active (1993) reached Platinum in the US and sold 3 million units worldwide.

Vault: Def Leppard Greatest Hits (1995) reached 4x Platinum in the US and sold 9 million units worldwide.

Slang (1996) reached Gold in the US

Euphoria (1999) reached Gold in the US

I agree, they didn't make an impact in the 90s

You should tell him to not tour with Whitesnake this year then. I don't remember Joe saying he wasn't the top selling Glam Metal band from the 80s/early 90s.
Also Def Leppard still tour with their peers, something that Bon Jovi will never do.

Poison also said they were never a Metal band. They have a problem with being associated with the Hair Metal era? No.
