Default Whitesnake and a bit about Rainbow re-forming?

I read this in the latest issue of Classic Rock, for all of those who haven't read it this is an article from it.

Snake's alive?!

Covendale remains schtum on mew line-up; (although Ritchie vetoes Rainbow reunion)

As this issue was going to press David Covendale was believed to be re-forming Whitesnake. The former Deep Purple/Covendale-Page vocalist has been strongly linked to a US arena tour with the Scorpions and Dokken supporting, and the first new album under Whitesnake name since 1997's 'Restless Heart'. UK and European shows are being lined up for late May, and there will be a new 'best of' Whitesnake album in February.
Coverdale, whose most recent recording 'Into The Light' was released under his own name in 200, has declined to reveal the identities of the musicians he has in mind. However, one of the names mentioned has already stated he will not be involved. Guitarist John Sykes, who joined the 'Snake for 1984's 'Slide It In' and left them acrimoniously before the '1987' album took MTV by storm, issued a statement: "To set the record straight, I will not be participating in the upcoming Whitesnake tour," said Sykes. "I hope this answers the numerous that have come in regarding this."
It's uncertain whether Coverdale might be prepared to work again with guitarists Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody (especially considering the pair's Company Of Snakes project is on hold), or put together an entirely new line-up. The names of Sykes and ex-Mr Big guitarist Paul Gilburt have been widely touted as the group's new twin-guitar foil. Sources close to Coverdale refuse to comment on specific names, but did reveal that an announcement of some kind was imminent.
Meanwhile, a spokes person for Ritchie Blackmore has denied reports elsewhere that the former Deep Purple guitarist is considering re-forming Rainbow.

Classic Rock, January 2003

Whitesnake back on track again would be excellent. I have all the albums and I really like them. Saw them live for the first time in 1997, awesome show..

I'm just a bit woried about the late May thing. This means it's in the middle of my exams, and could possiably clash with a Springsteen, a Gabrial, and a Wakeman concert. However, I'll just travel to see them I suppose if I'm double booked for Manchester.

Yeah, I think the Richie thing is a non starter. he's just not interested in it anymore, and I don't think he's ever likely to start it again. The problem is his wife Candice Night. he's doing this Medieval (porn) music with her, and living the Medieval lifestyle....I kid you not! He said in an interview that he just want's to, 'Go to the bottom of his garden and live with the pixies'. The man is a nut, and I get the feeling the only chance you'll ever get of seeing Blackmore on stage playing rock music again is if you drag him on kicking and screaming!!!
