Not sure how true the Jon making Tico get liposuction story is, I've never heard anything of that before

The guy wasn't exactly fired due to his playing. And Hugh didn't play on 7800°, didn't he? Plus, why would he be on the cover of KTF?

It's easy for us to pick into it like that, i doubt it's been written solely with Bon Jovi fans in mind. I just thought it was funny, the basic premise is correct.

That's the exact reason. Jon and Richie say on Behind The Music that Alec was messing up consistently and that was the reason he left.

Not to get into all this again as there has been endless threads on the topic, but I am still yet to watch or listen to a bootleg where Alec is messing up as much to a degree that would demand being sacked. No more than Jon and Richie messed up live, and still do. They could have kept him on as the touring bassist, with Hugh playing on the records - but it was clearly a combination of other factors too, whether it be drugs, this gun story, or something personal.

The one I am aware of was in 1983 when they were opening for ZZ TOP and Alec was arrested for carrying a gun on stage. Surely, they wouldn't have fired him 11 years later

And yes - Alec was screwing up a lot! Even Access All Areas starts with Tico bitching at Alec for screwing up. Yet after he left, it all started turning almost into a Jon Bon Jovi solo show. All focus on Jon, rather than the trinity of Richie-Jon-Alec which was the case until 1993. Ah well. You can tell, I used to like Alec. Such a freak. Tattooed his own name on his shoulder. Who the hell does that??!

That's a very old, very false story from the Enquirer about 1987. He supposedly made Alec get liposuction too. Alec... who weighs 138 pounds soaking wet with his boots on. Just a bunch of nonsense.

If you watch Access All Areas it's very obvious that Alec is the one leading most of the tomfoolery and ribbing of Jon. There's points where you can see Jon grimace and look uncomfortable while Alec makes fun of him. That could have a lot to do with Alec's departure. The band didn't seem to take Jon too seriously but since Alec left it all changed
