Regardless of what he did he didn't deserve to die that way. THAT'S a giant part of what the song is about. Not glorifying his crimes but the police brutality.

Precisely and unless you knew George Floyd personally and his circumstances, irrespective of his past, you don't know what it's like to walk in his shoes. I don't see that line as glorifying him, I see it as honest.

It’s as if the manner that George Floyd died has made him less of a criminal.

I preferred it in the 80s when Jon didn’t make his politics public as stated in the AAA documentary.
