Default Special Olympics

Did you guys hear that Bon Jovi donated €80 million to the Special Olympics this year?

I dunno if it was all the band of just Jon I think it was all of them though!

They donated it on Saturday night at the opening cermony in Ireland.

i suppose so but it's just whether they've said look take it out of the budget or whether they've emptied 20mill out of each of their accounts. either way this figure seems far too big.

Agree. surely it would make more sense to split 20mil between a number of charities?

i think this has probably been quoted incorrectly. i can't see them giving away £50million.

I highly doubt that 80 million was given because I'm yet to see footage of the parade in their honour

I think you've got your facts wrong somewhere. 80 million would nearly clear them out. Maybe your talking about the proceeds, from the sales of the A Very Special Christmas albums, that the band/Jon has always been involved with.

I was watching the opening ceremony and it was the Christmas albums he's worked on with Bobby Shriver they were talking about.
Jon was introduced on stage and was talking to Patrick Kielty(irish presenter) about being involved with the Special Olympics etc. and Patrick said "he's not going to say it, but this man has raised $80 million from his albums" - Jon smiled and said it was all down to Bobby Shriver or something along those lines.

I was actually suprised that those albums could have raised that much and thought he must have said the wrong figure - I can't imagine them raising $80 million!

Anyway, if anyone's interested here's a link to a irish website about the special olympics - they don't say much about Bon Jovi but there's two pictures.
