You guys are taking this playlist way to literal. Don't forget that artists get credit for streamed songs... This is just another avenue for Jon to promote and get some more plays...

He puts together his greatest hits, throws in a Bon Jovi song for every other song, shares his playlist on social media, and bang, his numbers go up...

Without even looking, I bet 90% of those artists are on the same record label (especially the current ones)...

I wonder if there would be a search for new sounds/style, or they continue with the line of BB / THINFS?

Hahah, I'm accountant and everywhere there's a opportunity to make a business in certaint way, if you think about the whole instagram/twitter can be a business. I have a principle "receive with humility and give with dignity".

I can tell JBJ LOOOOVES Wanted (OWN-Live) and it is on the list so the list must be real in certaint way.

How would you classify The Killers, The Strokes, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys or even The White Stripes? They certainly got stamped that label at least early on in their careers.

I know "indie rock" is a very broad term, but I don't follow those bands closely anymore so I wouldn't know to what subgenre they belong right now. The Killers for example had more rock in the beginning but the latest albums had a stronger synthpop feeling. I don't even think The Killers make *rock* music anymore (sue me).

I don't consider Fun to be an indie rock band, but I've seen them in that group too. The line is pretty blurred nowadays because there's very little "pure" rock in mainstream radio and there's no uniformity like there used to be until late 90s. I'm not saying that's bad though, there's much more to choose from nowadays and bands can experiment with their sound, there's no "trying to fit in the commercial mold of band X and sound Y". It's not my type of rock, but I respect it, there are quite a few quality bands out there...

But if you mean indie rock = underground bands, then none of the above fit the bill. They are very very mainstream.

I don't think it's real at all... I'm not saying that he doesn't love the above two songs but I do think this is an exaggerated list...

First of all, it's a greatest hits list with zero rarities... and i don't think Jon loves everyone of his greatest hits... I think there are plenty of other rare tracks that would be included from his collection... So that's the main indicator of bull shit I call on this playlist...

If Arcade Fire and Foals aren't indie rock, then there is no indie rock.

I don't recall Jon ever saying he hated that song. Not that it matters anyway, it's a single, it was on Cross Road, hence it's a hit!!!1!!!!
What? You can't hate a song you wrote because it was you that wrote it? That makes no sense, that would mean he's attached to hundreds of songs. "Lyrically is not much worse than others penned by him" is entirely subjective. Just saying, if he liked the song it would be played live when getting requested.

All in all I agree with whomever said the band songs weren't picked by him. Some of the bands are ones he's mentioned in the past so I don't disagree with that side being real.

Of course a person can look back on something they wrote and hate it. Jani Lane loathed Cherry Pie, the song, and only wrote it because the record company wanted a song in that wheelhouse. He hated being known as the Cherry Pie guy and that he had to sing it every show for the rest of his life.
