Nowadays high quality video and audio is easily recorded by anyone at a show. Yet it's the quality of the recording that's to blame for Jon sounding awful. It make absolutely no sense....If that was the case wouldn't all bands sound awful on the live YouTube videos. Because they don't. At all.....
Yeah I smile at that argument each time again as well. You can hear it live in person as well, some simply have more trained ears than others do. Some hear when a person sings off key live, others don't. If people who don't hear it live still enjoy it, great for them, but the whole "Youtube makes it sound bad" argument is stupid. The band sounds excellent on mobile phone videos on YT from 2008 to 2011 (well, mostly) and the techical standards were far worse by that time.

It seems these days that Jon has to rely on a great audience to cover up the flaws. If people are loud and in a party mood from the start, they can carry the show for him (like in Munich, Warsaw, Madrid, Wembley), but if they're facing a tough audience, they don't have it in them to win them over because the flaws are too noticeable for a quiet audience (like in Denmark for example).

This is spot on.
A good Bon Jovi show is hugely dependent on a good crowd nowadays. As long as you have people singing along and on a party mode you’re going to have a good time. However, that’s far from saying that the band is performing well.

The band is still performing well - Jon (as a frontman) included. However, his voice basically ruins most of the musical enjoyment.

Don’t think so. Even when comparing with 2013 the difference is night and day. They seem pretty bored by playing the same songs over and over.

I’m not sure anyone is saying that Jon sounds like he’s singing better live than he does on YouTube that would be crazy. The argument is that you can not compare sitting at home watching on YouTube to the live experience as a whole.

If anyone was watching Always live at Wembley in the stadium they would have felt the magic at that moment. It was very special. Watching YouTube it just looks like a decent performance.

If anyone went to a show and didn’t enjoy it that’s fair enough but certain people who haven’t even been to a live show this tour can bore off

You're right, guys. Being in a crowd that is absolutely mad makes you want to join in and let loose! Jon's vocal struggles are noticeable, especially in the parts he sings alone, but it's not the most important thing. Attending a good rock concert is almost a mystical experience, you're in a weird trance and don't have time for analysing those things you do find annoying afterwards while watching the bootlegs. And I agree that a good gig doesn't mean the vocals are good too. If it wasn't for touring but only recording youtube videos for fans, no one would want to listen to that haha. And believe me, JBJ does have some crazy fans out there who idolize him to a ridiculous degree x_x

I mean who can blame them? You got a bunch of talented musicians (plus Shanks) who were used to once being challenged to play different songs on the spot and now play the same 25 tunes all over the tour. In 2013, Phil X had steam coming out of his head on the European tour because Jon made him learn so many new songs on a nightly basis and now - nothing.

Lots of people have said exactly that!

Agreed. But wasn't the point I was making. It was to the people that have stated that Jon sounded better on the night than on the YouTube videos. He didn't, they just heard it differently at the time...

Feeling the magic when caught up in the atmosphere as opposed to watching a YouTube video is not comparable. Different beasts completely.

So people aren't allowed an opinion on a performance of a song from YouTube if they haven't been to a show? Don't be silly....
