Default Stereophonics - Live From Dakota

Stereophonics To Release Double Live Album
Thursday February 09, 2006 @ 07:00 PM
By: ChartAttack.com Staff

V2 will release Live From Dakota, a double live album from Welsh wonders the Stereophonics, on April 4.

The package will feature tracks spanning the band's five-album reign over the British charts and a new song called "Jayne." It follows the 2005 U.K. chart-topper, Language. Sex. Violence. Other?, and was recorded as the band played to more than 200,000 British fans on a sold-out arena tour and to thousands of others around the world. The set was mixed by Jim Lowe (Foo Fighters,Manic Street Preachers) and the Stereophonics in London.

"The album was all about capturing an energy," singer Kelly Jones says on the band's website. "It's raw and to the point, and I think it captures what the shows were about."

Though no release date has been set, the Stereophonics are also expected to deliver a DVD titled Live. Studio. Video. Other? It will include a 49-minute road movie, dressing room clips, studio footage and all the videos from the last album.

Here's the track list for Live From Dakota:

Disc One:
---------
"Superman"
"Doorman"
"A Thousand Trees"
"Devil"
"Mr. Writer"
"Pedalpusher"
"Deadhead"
"Maybe Tomorrow"
"The Bartender And The Thief"
"Local Boy In The Photograph"

Disc Two:
---------
"Hurry Up And Wait"
"Madame Helga"
"Vegas Two Times"
"Carrot Cake And Wine"
"I'm Alright (You Gotta Go There To Come Back)"
"Jayne"
"Too Many Sandwiches"
"Traffic"
"Just Looking"
"Dakota"

Yea Kelly Jones mentioned of a live album earlier this year but we only had the tracklist a few days ago, and we get a DVD a few weeks later. They've been overdue a new DVD release anyway.

I doubt il buy it tbh I prefer live DVDs to CDs. It looks pretty good though, although its brave of them to leave off Hangbags, pick a part thats new and have a nice day.

Iv seen two interviews where kelly talks about handbags and HAND, he says he regrets ever doing them and they are never ever going to play them live again. he talks about becoming 'middle of the road' with them and how he hated that. the new album is as far apart from this sound as you can get, which is a good thing!

Yeh I saw them on this tour and it is very rocky which is a good thing. Im just thinking will the casual fans buy this CD if theres a few of their big hits missing.

Is that interview on the net anywhere? If so, can you remember where you saw it?

I'm glad they came to their senses about those two songs as they are indeed middle-of-the-road to say the least. Vegas Two Times is the only semi-decent song from the JEEP album, and Mr Writer has kinda grown on me only recently.

Stereophonics' Have A Nice Day is contender for 'most boring song ever'. No wonder he regrets doing it.

It was on a promo show last year on vh1, them playing live and being interviewd. He talked about starting on one side of the 'road', crossing it, getting stuck in the middle, and then going back down into the 'gutter' with the new album. I cant remember exactly what he said about the songs, but it was along of lines of the fact that they deeply regret ever being 'in that place'
