After two listens, I don't like it. There is nothing that makes me want to listen to it again.

Similar to Unbroken, the lyrics are so literal. There are some lines which are well written, but majority of it is either a cliche or a specific sentence like a headline you'd read in a newspaper. I want the romance in the lyrics back. More abstract and poetic lines.

I do like Jon's low voice in the verses, and the music is calming and gentle. But I'm picking at straws trying to find a positive.

3/10

So far he's only getting "destroyed" by the Trump minions who've never been capable of ever thinking for themselves and have jumped on the "All Lives Matter bandwagon. It's sad how Americans, with all their acces to social media, keep resorting to their own bubble with misinformation and then crucify everyone who is educated on the subject for thinking differently.

That same concept applies to both sides buddy!! People are sick of celebrities mixing their art with politics.

Bon Jovi fans don’t want real life shoved down their throats when they play Bon Jovi, they listen to Jovi to escape, to bash the steering wheel when the chorus comes on, to air guitar the solo, to fist pump in the air to the stadium anthems.

Jon needs to get back to what he does best only he can’t. Richie has gone and he’s left to write this (and the 3 others from 2020) drivel.

2020 is already the worst Jovi album ever from what I’ve heard so far. 4 songs. 4 duffers.

But that's not entirely true or why would they be okay with those celebrities that agree with their narrative like Jon Voight, James Woods, Ted Nugent, Kid Rock, etc.

How so?

The concept of the death of a black man by using excessive violence by a police officer is shocking and just plain wrong yet those who crucify Jon for writing a story about it are more angry about those who speak up as opposed to the fact that such a thing often happens. It's the direct reflection of how little a large group of people care about the racial injustice in America and shows why the movement was and is needed.

Yeah, God forbid an artist writes about the things that move him. People dismissing the voice of a celebrity whenever he's spreading his or her political opinion are only fed up with it if it doesn't go with their agenda. And besdes, you've voted a celebrity in the White House.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I get what your saying Steve but as an artist do they then give up their rights as a citizen to speak up? In other words, are they relegated to just being a puppet and catering to their fans? When subject matter is important enough to them to write about it even if it's not fun and hard to listen to I may not love it but I would never tell someone you can only write the songs "I" am going to like.

Yeah. That must be why Keep The Faith, Hey God, Undivided, These Days, Two Story Town, Have A Nice Day, Fear, All I Want Is Everything, Save A Prayer all so universally hated.

Bon Jovi used to be big exactly because they were writing about real life. They wrote about the upsides and downsides in a blunt and direct way. Once they strayed away from this and started writing in vague metaphors and cliches the lyrical quality went downhill as no one could related anymore.

Maybe the idea that you need to be faced with stuff like this through a Bon Jovi song and not through life itself shows it's you who's been living in a bubble and not part of the life Bon Jovi writes about? You've never experienced the injustice a large part of the world deals with on a day to day basis. The very idea that people get upset when someone writes about the needless death of a black man caused by a cop who used unnecessary violence shows why artists need to write about stuff like this. You're obviously not getting educated on the subject anywhere else.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Rock music as we know it was largely born of political ideas. Besides, having an opinion about the death of innocent people is about as political as the nature of a pandemic. Oh, that's right, telling women they can't have an abortion is not political, but these things are.

I only see white people complaining about the song, they're probably Trump voters.

On whether the song should sound heavier as undivided ... I think it wouldn't be better. Jon no longer has the balls to do that, in any case, something similar to Working Man would come out, and I think the biggest failure of that song was precisely pretend sound heavy, that song sounded better in acoustic format. So Jon adapted it well this time.
