Listen to TEARS IN HEAVEN. He composed it for a movie but also dedicated it to his 4 year old son who died from falling off a building. Beautiful song.

As of similar to Bon Jovi bands, most Bon Jovi fans I know also love Aerosmith or GN'R. Seems like the 3 bands share the same fans.

Oh! Well, kiddo. He happens to be Richie Sambora's idol and Richie's song "Mr. Bluesman" is sort of a homage to him. He also happens to be one of the most famous guitar players ever, and yes, he's more than just good. You can search away on YouTube for his songs.

I don't think there are absolutely 'similar' artists out there, but if well written ballads is what you're inclined towards, I'll just list some [along with some songs]:
Goo Goo Dolls: SYMPATHY, NAME, SLIDE, ACOUSTIC NO.3, BLACK BALLOON.
Staind: IT'S BEEN AWHILE, EPIPHANY, EXCESS BAGGAGE.
GnR: ESTRANGED, NOVEMBER RAIN, PATIENCE.
Velvet Revolver: LAST FIGHT, FALL TO PIECES.
Shinedown: 45, SAVE ME, I DARE YOU.
Alice in Chains: I STAY AWAY, NUTSHELL, DOWN IN A HOLE.
Aerosmith: JADED, DREAM ON, ANGEL, LIVIN ON THE EDGE, CRYING, CRAZY.

I feel so stupid! I was looking on google and he is really popular.
His biggest hit (I don't know if this is the right way) is Layla.

I am going to listen all the songs you put in here, really appreciated.

Thank you so much!

what is kiddo?

Just another, more urban, word for kid. Since you're 17 and that actually is pretty young on a board with most users being around the 30-year mark.

Similar artists: Check out the "Lipservice" album by Gotthard (Swiss band). Lots of 80s bands tried to sound like Bon Jovi, if you like that era, just listen to some of the bands that opened for Bon Jovi during the Slippery & New Jersey tours (Wikipedia is your friend). Europe (the band) is another good one; try the "Out of this World" album.

I'm a huge MB20 fan, but I wouldn't say they were especially similar to Jovi. Well worth checking out though.
