Default question on the whole acoustic cd thing

from nick,
i was under the impression that the acoustic
cd is going to be a live cd, taken from
the japan, maybe kiel shows, is this true
or are the going to go into the studio and
record this thing, the live cd has much more
appeal to me than a studio one, does anyone
know for sure, and then they go and play an
acoustic first half of a show in minnesota,
any info is appreciated, thanks

Hmm...this isn't the Q & A forum at Bonjovi.com..but anyway...

There are no hard answers yet, but I'll wager it's a live acoustic album.

You have people here who started up speculation that it's an album with acoustic versions done in the studio. Frankly..I find that f***ing stupid. Just know that the speculation regarding such a bore of an album came out of people here...not official news. The magic of such an album comes out of the fact that it is being performed live and not polished and spit shined in the studio. There is no official info released regarding the source, be it in the studio or live performance.

So far there have been live acoustic performances at Yokohama, Kiel, and Minneapolis. The Yokohama performance was the largest scale one, being filmed and the most songs performed. Great set list too if you ask me. Unfortunately, it isn't worthy of being documented. Jon was sick with a very bad cold.

An acoustic album/video is a chance for the band to really show their chops. For gods sake..they practically started the whole MTV Unplugged saga. Just about anyone who watched the MTV Awards performance back in 1989 were amazed by Jon and Richies voices and playing. It's not unrealistic to expect just as high of standard of a performance now or even higher. Frankly, I'm tired of them botching these kinds of chances. Wanted Dead Or Alive was known to be phenomenal done live, acoustically or otherwise. Then they go and release One Wild Night Live with possibly one of the most boring and uninspired live versions of Wanted they could ever choose. Plus they made a video out of it. Please.

Anyway....just keep on hanging on and official news will surface.

PER JON-Name of Acoustic Album - STRUM AS YOU ARE
Fri Jul 18 2003
I received the newsletter today and Jon wrote that the acoustic album will be called STRUM AS YOU ARE and it should be 15 tracks. He said some songs we've heard before but they went above and beyond and have been working on several new songs to accompany the studio new arrangements of some favorites as well as a couple of covers. Some things they've never done before. It will be released in late October! AND The boxset is shaping up. There are almost 3 albums worth of material that have never been released. He'll be going through them and various b-sides from around the world to make the best box they can! WHOOO HOOOO!!!!!
thanx to RichieW2001

Right, saw this already, but what newsletter is being referred to and who else here got the same thing? So its just more speculation fodder in the meantime. Look, if it isn't an official press release...then anything goes. You all remember how some people here were convinced the One Last Wild Night Giants Stadium show was going to come out on DVD because of something Richie said? Or at least was quoted as saying? Some people took this so to heart that even after Bounce was released they were still expecting the DVD in stores shortly thereafter. You don't release a new album followed by a DVD of a concert from the tour of your previous album.

Anyway, wait for the official press release, anything less is what you make of it.

This has come from the man himself, in the fan clubs newsletter.
Obviously there's time for the title to change as they make a habit of doing that lately. But at this point in time, this is as official as it can get.
As to the Live/studio thing, i think it will be a mixture of the 2. There's apparently going to be a couple of new songs, so they they will be in the studio. And the rest i think will be live, as they've performed a fair few covers acoustically on this tour, as well as Bon Jovi songs.

They were going to put a One wild night DVD out but the project got cancelled. As has been said, plans can change.

The acoustic album is called "Strum as you are" as of right now and the title ws revealed to us by Jon, via the only official fanclub's quartly fanzine.
