Of course they absolutely love that other people earn money with BJ's work. What did you think, wouldn't you love it?

OBVIOUSLY they're aware of it, and don't like that others are making money off of their songs and live shows.
Maybe they should do like pearl jam did or like Metallica's doing and make their live shows officially available.
It still wouldn't stop the bootlegging though.

I think they should sell the live shows on DVD. I know that every BJ show is professionally recorded for their own personal use, and it wouldn't be too difficult to release them officially. Maybe you could buy them through the fan site or something. I would definately pay at least £10 for a high quality copy of the Manchester gig that I went to last year.

i should hope not

part of the idea of bootlegging is sneaking the equiptment in. finding a secure and decent sounding spot or simply collecting.

making these so called 'unedited' mixes available online is great but id rather have a decent audience recording over an official release 99% of the time.

well said JOEYKID.

I have over 150 Bon Jovi live CD's/Vcd's and DVD's - yet they have never suffered financially from me because I have never NOT bought an official product.

I would never buy a bootlegged official product but I think BJ have been commecially naive over the years (which is a surprise, knowing what Jon is like!) by not releasing live shows in any formats - because we would buy them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are lots of bands out there, like Counting Crows, that encourage taping and trading - and no-one buys or sells because of that, there are enough people to trade with and sellers are shunned.

Because Bon Jovi haven't engendered this feeling I see people all over ebay selling live shows - it's the bands own fault really!

Making a DVD costs too much. They wouldn't sell enough of those to cover the costs. CD's are cheaper and many bands do sell CD's of concerts after the show or on the Internet. But it's not a good business for the band.

Yeah, but would you buy any other DVD's? Probably about 20% of the people that go to a show would buy the DVD. There's no point in doing it, it would be too much hassle. The cameras would have to be changed to get better picture quality, the sound should be recorded with better equipment, someone would have to go through the material and re-mix it and edit it... Too much hassle, it's not gonna happen.
