When Riche uses that micro phone bit in songs that makes that strange noice . what is it and how does it work? only my wife asked me and i didnt have a clue

In short, the Talk Box is an apparatus that allows guitarists to effectively 'talk' guitar notes by routing the guitar's amplified sound through a piece of tubing the player holds in his mouth. Fluctuations in mouth position relative to the tubing enable the player to evince all manner of artificial 'speech' using the guitar as the players 'voice'.

it's called a talk box.

you use your diaphragm to breathe into the tube and it affects the guitar signal.

if you want to be really geeky, you need a seperate pre amp for it (dunno why) hence why not alot of people bar rich cunts that can afford (and have people to carry) more amps, use them.
