Default Live Albums/Videos

It's well known that Bon Jovi records every one of their performances. I don't get it. 4 years ago, they release that piss poor excuse of a live record. They release the Crush DVD, which arguably, was not one of the best show on that Tour.

Why doesn't the band release any of the shows in their "vaults" from say, 1987-1993? Some of their best live performances are from this era - They MUST know this. I can't imagine it would cost aolt of money to release previously recorded shows.

Anyone know the answer to this?

They don't record them all to DVD quality ... multiple camera angles and suchlike. Think about the Hyde Park songs on the TLFR DVD, it's hardly the best quality is it?

Good - I thought it was just my version that looked like ass.

I would take VHS's of shows from 87-89. The only one I've seen of decent quality was the Moscow Music Peace Festival. Everything else are just god knows what generation copies of show that are barely watchable.

Aloha !

Because any live album or video pre-Crush would make people think Bon Jovi are taking the piss nowadays. Because everything, and I mean, everything is better about the shows before Crush. And I'm sure they know it.

Sebastiaan

I agree it would send out the message that their recent shows aren't good enough to be released. You only tend to get archive releases when a band has split and is not making albums anymore. Maybe we could hope the band splits up for a while and we get a slew of live releases from the record company. This didn't happen between New Jersey and Keep The Faith though.

And it won't ever happen as soon as the band splits. Jon is too careful about his archives and won't let anything leak, or give something to the recordcompany. If he does, it'll be stuff since Crush.

Eh, yeah. Ever heard of something called "100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong?"

One thing I've always wished bands would do is give you the opportunity to buy a live cd of the show you saw. A friend of mine said this happened at a show he was at recently but I can't remember the name of the band. If Bon Jovi do record every show why could they not do this. I remember at one of the tours you got the chance to send off for live photos of the show you were at. Can't remember which tour this was maybe These Days or later.

It's more than one band, but KISS did it on their last tour. You picked up the double disk set on your way out.

Metallica did it, but in the form of online MP3 or Loss-less downloads.
