Default Kerrang! UK: Where to start with Bon Jovi

So, every week in Kerrang! they do a double page spread about a band, and what to look out for if you are just starting to get into that band. This week was Bon Jovi. They interviewed someone from Atreyu about why he loves Bon Jovi, and then profiled the bands work:

Essential album: Slippery When Wet
Follow Up Purchase: New Jersey
Also recommended: Bon Jovi
Wild Card: Keep The Faith
Avoid: These Days

Yeah, you read that right. THESE DAYS. They described it as being their "worst album", "shite", and "worse than Simple Plan". I mean, WTF?! I was so disgusted i ripped out the pages and threw them away. So now I'm gonna have to guess at the 20 songs they said should be on "the ultimate Bon Jovi mix CD":

Runaway
Roullete
She Don't Know Me (bit of an odd choice....)
In & Out Of Love (the only thing on 7800 worth mentioning, apparently)
Bad Name
Prayer
Wanted
Raise Your Hands
Without Love (again, bit of an odd choice)
Wild In The Streets
Lay Your Hands On Me
Bad Medicine
Livin' In Sin
Blaze Of Glory (said something to the effect of Richie's solo effort being crap)
Keep The Faith
In These Arms
I Believe
Always
Hey God (the one bright spark on their worst album apparently)
It's My Life

6 songs from Slippery, but only 2 from the last 10 years? Hmmmmm

buts its kerrang magazine. nuff sed.

they ended their brief love affair with bon jovi mid 90s as soon as the next big thing came along. hell, i even remember the bon jovi special they had one week, my big brother had it and i thot they were so cool back then.

times change i guess. Jovi will prob go full circle and be ''cool' to like again in ten years i think. the whole thing is kinda pathetic if you ask me - how publications like these work and promote what theyr told to promote by certain record companies.

you just hafta look at the other topp 100 blah blah de blah list by kerrang about the albums elsewhere on this forum to get my point.

JBJ - I believe

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

Hmm, will have to pick Kerrang up this week then (First time in years) Cheers.

A bit bemused by the dissing of These Days, as it got 4 K's at the time of release, and that period was when Kerrang couldn't get enough of Bon Jovi (And vice versa). They were in the mag all the time, and Kerrang were very positive about them back then.

God I'm getting old.

Unless you can do it tonight, you've missed it! Sorry. You're not missing much though

Aloha !

These Days won the award for best and worst album at the same time in Kerrang! if I remember correct.

I also remember it says that they gave Slippery 4 and a half K's, which is a bit bizarre

the only thing worse than bandwagon magazines like kerrang and nme are the people who either getinto or avoid bands because they're in these magazines.
