Default Listening To TLFR...

And I can't believe they actually butchered these songs. The only one I can really stand right now is It's My Life. I'm not looking forward to hearing some of these songs at the shows.

The songs I like off of TLFR:

Wanted is pretty cool

LOAP is reasonable, but kinda pointless

Quite like Bad Medicine. I'm tempted to say I'd rather this version be played on tour than the original!

It's My Life is good

Lay Your Hands has some nice guitar, but is only really OK

I enjoy Bad Name

Bed Of Roses is good, but that's because it's not overly different to the original

Quite like Everyday, I like how they retain the really long electric guitar notes in the chorus

I like BTBMB as well, it's the humming that gets me

Keep The Faith isn't particularly interesting

Not a huge fan of IBTFY, but it's nice that they kept the "riff"

Always is reasonable

Of course none of the versions are better than the old ones, but they're not exactly meant to replace them. I don't hate the band for doing TLFR or anything

I never disliked This Left Feels Right and I bought it the day of it's release, 3rd November 2003. I agree, the majority of tracks on here are reasonable, but my favourite track is probably Everyday, which is alot more moody than the original and more atmospheric and in many ways, I actually prefer it to the original.

Other tracks I'm fond of are It's My Life, Wanted Dead Or Alive, Always and Born to be my baby. The rest is only really OK. I think it was particularly interesting the first few times I listened to it to hear all the surprises and differences, but I suppose that novalty wears off after a while.

I just think this album could have been so much more.

I totally agree with that. I loved it from first listen and I still love it but to be honest I never listen to it anymore. I might listen to one or two tracks at a time but then move on to something else, or fall asleep.....

I really appreciate the experiment and I really do think without the time constraints it could've been so much more. I don't see why they had to be so slow, just reworked, and it was the perfect opportunity to rework songs from the first two albums and These Days so they could be played more often in a live enviorment but of course that didn't happen.

As I said before, even though I rarely listen to it, I still think it's a fantastic idea and I would actually love to see a "This Left Feels Right: Part II", where they choose much rarer stuff and approach the songs differently. And it's not about replacing the origionals, that's never what this project was about, it was sinply about exploring different sides and different meanings in these classic songs.

It's My Life and Wanted are the only 2 I can stand to listen to.

I don't listen to TLFR, I don't even own it.

But it's still a very brave album.

I remember you liking and defending the songs so much at first, Ryan!

Me, I'm just indifferent to them (except for Wanted, which I hate with a passion). They do nothing for me. The live versions from the DVD I do like, though.

I was at that Bogata concert and as far as I was concerned the DVD was FAR better than the CD. I ripped the audio from the DVD as soon as it came out and when I do listen to a track or two - it's from there.

I really liked it from the first time I listened to it and I still quite like a lot of the tracks now. I think that a couple are pointless in the sense that they aren't vastly different to the originals, but overall I still enjoy listening to it, I played through it a couple of days ago and do quite often, the 5.1 mix on the SACD is probably the only thing I don't really like about it.
