Question Stay ...

Has anyone heard this masterpiece live?

I think it was performed in Jon's solo tour...

It's never been done live. There is a badly recorded "live" version circulating that was just booted from that 98 fan club thing where they were played jons new album that never came to be.

Really? I didn't know there was to be a follow-up to Destination Anywhere, and, allegedly, so soon aswell. I know songs played live at that gig were to be included for the Crush album (Just Older was one of them), and Stay became a studio b-side for one of the singles.

Well they weren't exactly played "live" per se, it was just the disc being played. Becky was there, so she'd be able to help out more. It slowly evolved into a band record. A few other songs from that record went on to be b-sides/rarities. You can't lose at love, Gimme Some, Rich man living in a poor mans house, Hush, Save the World, I got the Girl. Now I know for sure YCTAL, Gimme some, and Hush were released as b-sides as they were recorded, without the regular band.

Yes, it was intended to be another Jon solo project. He had plenty of songs written and played the demos for us in 1998. The reason he didn't follow through with it was the record company was bought out by Universal. He was unsure of how they would be handled when they were shifted to Island/Def Jam and wanted to let the dust settle, so to speak. That's one of the main reasons Crush was delayed from 1999 until 2000 as well. The other major reason is that the scheduled producer (Bruce Fairbain) died. It seems the schedule conflicts worked out for the best since It's My Life was one of the last songs written for what became Crush.

That's not exactly hard. Crush was pretty much a one song album apart from Neurotica!

It is a great song, just a bit too over the top IMO.

I don't think the band would split up in the first place, but I'm sure Jon will keep making music whether he's with a band or not.
