Default BJ demands for a show.

Not anything special actually, but a pretty funny read and compare BJ's demands to other artists.

it's an interesting read just to see "how the other half live"

the best i've managed for a rider was a case of stella and a case of cheap assed smirnoff ice type things. >

i've seen that before .. i think that is their rider from the OWN tour... there requests are not outrageous at all compared to some of the other artists on there. some requests from the "divas" like Mariah Carey and what not are ridiculous!!

The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3

one cool thing I came across a while ago about riders was david lee roth talking about the infamous same coloured M&Ms jar.

it's not verbatim but he said something along the lines of: people think we did that just to be dicks and because we could, which is half true but when you've got such specific technical details like the kind of power regulation you need, what exact sort of trussing you need to hold tonnes of lighting and stage gear, this was our acid test. it was just a tiny clause stuck in the middle of the contract with all the food and drink requests. if we got in the room and the M&Ms hadn't been sorted the way we wanted we knew that they weren't going over the minute details of the contract so couldn't trust the promoter to provide a safe environment for the show.

pretty good idea really.

it's incredibly smart. all big promoters will be PLC's so if anything major goes wrong like a barrier falling and a crush happening or the stage collapsing (which I actually know happened to a promoter with the prodigy back in the day) they just shut up shop and open under another name.

from a legal stand point they're covered.

van halen on the other band will have insurance but that's not going to help if a light falls on your head and kills you or the pyro goes wrong and melts your face.

I wouldn't be surprised if more bands have little "catch them out" clauses but the van halen ones just ascended to mythical status for one reason or another.
