Default I Talk To Jesus

Man what a great song. I can't believe I lost some 9 years on this one.

Anyway, I was wondering what you all make of this one. I figure that he's (the character) some kid of nutcase or something:

But, I've got this bracelet, I've got this ID
That the people down at county gave me

I know you think I'm special, hear it all the time
You don't have to V.I.P. me, I'm a regular guy

But of course he doesn't think so. At the end, he really flips out:

And aliens control our lives
And when we speak, they're in our minds
And Heather Locklear is my wife
And, Man ain't I a lucky guy

This is the part that throws me. I believe this song was written in 1997. RS & HL would have been married 2 years or so. Is Jon spoofin' on Richie here sayin he's the nutcase?

Or am I the nutcase?

Don't answer that!

I always take this song as being stuff that's never gonna happen. Richie being married to Heather would mean Jon's never going to be (of course, who knows WHAT could happen now!). That's my favourite line in the whole thing - I read the lyrics before hearing the song, and I didn't know it was a JBJ solo song, I was so expecting Richie to come in with that bit, I don't know why.

It's a compliment to Heather because she's the kind of girl men of all ages fantasize about.

Years before this song was written/released, Jon said a young man showed up at his house and told Jon that he had a message from Jesus. Jon let him in the house. He said looking back, he realized how incredibly NAIVE that was of him. The man could have been a nutcase who killed him.

Since he told that story prior, I've always thought this song was an embellishment of that event. He wrote this one in England--said he could imagine someone trying to act like he was a VIP to get into the palace to see the queen.

(cue me on the big screen) JBJ: "How good have you been? Oh My God!" (laughs, more teasing) JBJ: "You want it huh, you want it huh? Blood on Blood just for you, the good girl in the front row? The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3

It was a demo for Destination Anywhere. My import cds are packed away, but I think it was on the Japanese version of DA and was on one of the singles for the album.

Cool. That's the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks for the info KidSambo & Becky.

I recently got mine from ebay. Last ebay link I posted got taken down so for what it's worth here's another:

or search for this:
Jon Bon Jovi Destination Anywhere Bonus+2 Japan BOX LTD

As much as I absolutely love this CD, this is now clearly the best track for me.

Thanks again guys.

DA is a great album, one of my personal favourates to be honest, but I think ITTJ was left off it for a reason. It just doesn't go with the rest if the material. ITTJ is a really catchy upbeat song but to a certain degree the lyrics don't really make any sense, where the whole DA album in my opinion is deep and meaningful, but not necessary catchy or upbeat. Don't get me wrong ITTJ is a good song. I love the bass line. I still mean to try and tab that out when I get chance.

They make perfect sense if you diagnose the character as a paranoid schizophrenic with delusions of granduer. LOL
