Default Destination Anywhere - F*%king Awesome

Just listening to it now and thinking how little credit it got....it should put to bed any questions about Jon's song-writing and ability. It makes those 'Max Martin wrote IML' and 'Did Dave write ITA' discussions seem laughable. Lyrically, this album is not just a decent effort, but at times it is lyrically outstanding.

Yes, Crush, Bounce and HAND have some questionable lyrics, and it baffles me when I listen to this. I think more easily digestible lyrics fit big loud rock songs better. Plus DA was written off the back of These Days, another lyrically great album and the 'deeper' creative stuff was still flowing. Jon should get depressed again and start writing.

I agree, DA does not get enough credit for the great record it is. I love the fact that the lyrics are much more telling and introspective. Songs like Starting at Your Window, It's Just Me, and Cold Hard Heart are just brilliant!!

Destination was lyrically and musically way ahead of its time, and i believe stands out by a mile. i also think that STRANGER was a masterpeice and severley underated. wether it was they were SOLO records and not BJ , im not sure!!! but too me and in my humble opinion the chaps write songs from the heart and and get a message across to the listner. and can hold theyre heads high amongst even the best wordsmiths of the time.

I love it. It seems like These Days and D.A are two of his most honest writing and they both flopped in the states. One after the other. Hence, Crush, heh.

The CD is brilliant. I love that Jon put his heart out there for all to see with the lyrics. There's only one thing I would change about the CD and that's the title/chorus of Janie. The verses of that song are incredible, but the chorus drags it down horribly, given that anyone who grew up listening to country music will automatically think of Kenny Rogers' "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town." But Jon more than makes up for that error with other songs like It's Just Me, Every Word Was a Piece of My Heart, Staring at Your Window... I also love that Jon does write the majority of the songs on his solo CDs alone. You really get an idea of who Jon is as a songwriter. That's something you don't get with collaborations.

Who says that David Bryan wrote In these arms? I know that he has writing credits but I´ve never heard this discussion.

There's not much to go on. Dave and Richie wrote one part of the song and Jon wrote the other. To me, I think David wrote more originally than we all thought. Note that when he recorded his own version, he changed some of the lyrics. That says to me that he had written it differently, maybe.

Nicely said. I completely agree.

(cue me on the big screen) JBJ: "How good have you been? Oh My God!" (laughs, more teasing) JBJ: "You want it huh, you want it huh? Blood on Blood just for you, the good girl in the front row? The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3

It's ok IMO. Janie, August 7, Ugly, and Every Word are good songs. The rest of the songs just don't do it for me for some reason.

Lyrically, I love it. Musically...eh.

I love the acoustic stuff I've heard. It just sounds so...cold, I guess, on the cd.
