Default WSYCGH Question

Ok, now I don't think the song is bad, and I do think it is infinitly better with Nettles. But, how in the world did it get to number one anywhere? I don't know anybody who loves it on the Bon Jovi side of the isle or the country side.

Again, I am not saying it is bad. It is ok and it is upbeat.

But, come on...what happened?

Nobody seems to really like the song that much.

Was it just the Katrina tie-ins?

I think it's a very good song, perhaps worn out on the radio playing and such, but it's still a great song. I'm opposite from you....I think it's better without Nettles. lol

In the US, number 1 is based on radio airplay and sales (in this case legal downloads). The DJ's on the country format radio stations played it to death so someone liked it. And the video stayed in the top 10 on CMT and GAC for a LONG which is largely based on requests, so again, somebody liked it. And the Katrina tie in just happened with Oprah last week so that wouldn't have anything to do with it.

Many country fans do love the duet. I post on some country music based message boards and have seen 99% positive commnts. Practically everyone I know out there in "the real world" listens to country music. People often tell me that they love that song, that Jon sounds great singing country music and that Bon Jovi should do more country music.

I know it isn't what most Bon Jovi fans want to hear.

See, i actually know a lot of people who love the song in general. I think it appeals to a lot of people. The bottom line is a good song is a good song is a good song. God I sound like Jon.

The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3

It appealed to me from the beginning because I am someone who also "came home". I have to admit that at first the message appealed to me more than the music but then I heard it live so many times it grew on me. Besides I still say that it sounds like an old Sam Cooke song - Cupid.

Oh God, I'm singing that line "Cupid.. draw back your bow..." and you're right "Who says You can't go home" fits right in there perfectly!

Yeah, I have to agree with you on the Cupid. Great song. Better for me because it is classic Cooke and I love it.

Well, alright. I give. I guess the musical tastes around where I have been recently (college towns and california recently) are are quite a bit scewed. It is a decent song, it generally puts me in an upbeat mood, and the Nettles harmonies are good, but it really isn't that great for me.

Glad to hear people like it though.
